Starting orientation with TWT

So I am scheduled for orientation on the 3rd, they want my on the 26th, but my current local gig doesn't have a back up driver, and as a matter of integrity I can't leave them high and dry. Their response was "what did they do for you". Well, they did give me a job, with limited experience, in this crap shoot economy. Anyways I'll try to keep this updated as I go along.

 

So the 26th it is, they are going to fly me on the 25th from Sacramento, to Spokan, than the 3 day orientation, than a truck assignment, than a routing back home to get all my crap....The wife is unhappy but since I live on the I-5 corridor I think she'll see me more than she thinks, much more than before (once every two months). I just can't stand this P&D local bay area crap..same thing day after day.

 

Just got off the phone with Brenna, got all my info, flying out sunday night, starting orientation monday morning, road, physical, and drug tests, sounds good to me I'll try to keep who ever may read this or myself updated, but I ain't got no wireless card, so I'll do it when I can. I'm excited and nervous to say the least.

 

I thank you for the feedback, I think I'll try this out for awhile, if it don't work out though I'll definatly check those ones out. I had to get outta that day cab and these people seem allright...alot of rules. But we shall see how it goes...Thanks again.

 

So I just finished my orientation, alot of paper work, alot of movies long tedious days.

Day 1 was a FMCSR open book test, and a couple of other tests nothing too dificult.
The road test consisited of a 5 mile trip on the freeway than off the freeway and a straight back. Also the drug test, and the physicals test which consisted of a hearing test, an eye test, and putting weights up and down onto a shelf and stuff along those lines.

day 2 was more of the same book work and a lesson on working the reefer, and chaining, and adjusting the brakes, logs, and on csa2010. Meet and greet with payroll, some safety people, recruiters, and some shop people. Also a lesson on safe driving which is accredited and supposidly can reduce your auto insurance smehow.

Day 3 was finishing up the safe driving lesson, securement, meet and greet with the head guy from safety, alot of stuff geared more towards the system side. Also our truck assignments. I gotta hitch a ride to french camp to pick up my truck.

I must say that the hotel is pretty nice, some cute girls working here, there's a good cheap burger joint called dicks next door, they feed you a real breakfast, and the lunches are decent. They seem like nice people(some of them), and we shall see how it works out. They do track and audit you using gps, so you gotta be on top of your logs, but on the TWT side all the trucks and trailers are in pretty good shape and they are all PB's or KW's which is a plus.

 

still in the hotel, have to team with a guy to bloomington, ca to get my truck, kinda frustrating but that's trucking
