Maybe you're thinking of the big cam 400 with the head bolt problems. Kta's could have head bolt problems too if you spanked it real hard for a while (by spanked I mean shifting gears at too low of rpm) never heard of one going through head gaskets though.

No not a Big Cam. A fella I knew had a 475 in a beautiful A model that he treated very well. He is the one that seemingly had a problem every year with them.

Yes, but up until the X models, they used the Constellation cabs WS designed just before Freightliner bought them out. Over the years they switched to Freightliner-sourced parts for more and more stuff.

Yup. A western star is a freightliner with a body kit on it. Just like kenworth and peterbilt are the chevy-gmc versions of paccar.

I would stay old school with the engine if I were you. I would never put modern garbage in it. What power range are you looking for?

Yes , I bought it used it didn't have many miles I don't remember exactly but it was under 200,000 . I bought from a local Peterbilt dealer. The truck was part of a drug bust it was taken along with a trailer and some high end cars was the story I got from the salesman. It was a good truck I don't regret buying it.

475-600. CAT is my 1st choice, but I might try a Cummins. don’t want anything newer than about 07. Don’t have much faith in the new stuff I guess. There’s nothing wrong with this one, I just want something different :D
