So I’m looking to swap my Stud pilot front hubs on my cab over to Hub pilot has anybody done this? Any suggestions for used or part numbers for new etc.?
Also wanting to add air ride to front axle as well.
Oh just a quick update. I stretched the frame two Saturdays ago to 4 1/2 feet longer than what it was see image.

I did see a 9670 with a bit longer wheel base than that one time. I had to walk across the parking lot and ask the man why. He said he normally ran Alaska. Had to have the wheel base to carry the fuel. It was fuel tanks from steer tires to front drives on both sides. Now I have to ask you why?
In the time frame you are talking about IHC changed the common bearings on their steer axles. The older units had a little larger bearing set. Then they went to the 212049 - 218248. If you have the bearing set I mentioned parts off a 9400 or something will probably work. If you have the older bearing setup they were probably never made hub piloted.
I did see one of those with a add on steer air bag kit. It had an air bag between the frame and spring. The shackles had long slots in them. Looked a little sketchy to me but the man that owned it liked it. Good luck finding that as that was 30 years ago.W923 Thanks this. -
Maybe you’re lucky and the hubs have the lugs for hub pilot but have stud pilot studs currently…. I parted out a 9670 a couple years ago that was this way.
Funny thing is I actually ran across a ih axle behind my shop today that is about the right vintage and has the “convertible” hubs…..BoxCarKidd and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
BoxCarKidd Thanks this.
