More years ago than I care to admit, I ran for a company that regularly ran to Vancouver BC. We crossed at Blaine.
They had it set up pretty good. We drove to the Blaine Custom Broker's lot, dropped our trailer and picked up a south bound trailer (usually), or bobtailed back to Bellingham for a load. Canadian driver's picked up our load and hauled it from the border to final. I don't recall being there more than 45 minutes most times, usually less. No hassles.
Then came NAFTA
(It's suppose to help us, remember?)
Too bad we can't go back to the old way of doing things. Sure was easier and more profitable!

Hey stevens how long do it take for you to pick up and look over new apps.
-
Wrong place to ask that question. We are drivers for stevens and other companies, we have no idea how long it takes to look over new apps. They get hundreds a day.
-
Why not move up in the world and learn a 13 , 15 , 18 speed thats what sorts out the men from the boys

Call'em - I put in my app and the very next morning I got a call. Just might have gotten lost in the mix of all the apps they get each day. I talked to them earlier today to let them know I had decided to go with another company. They even asked me why and if they could try to keep me from doing that. I was shocked - she went as far as saying call me back if you dont like it there and we'll have a place for you. Now I am sure they say that to everyone - but made me feel good about them!

That is a sign of good recruiter. They make you feel like this place is A-ok... Give you that fuzzy feeling about committing the next X amount of you time to them. Then you get there and it happens... Reality... lol

does anybody know can you take tramadol with script and drive otr?
-
I let them know three days ago I was going with a different carrier - they called again today to let me know they will save a place for me since they are sure I wont get the miles anywhere else. It's almost funny now.
-
It is indeed funny when it gets to that point...

TLea, I was Canada qualified when driving for Dick Simon. I really enjoyed going into Canada. Once you cross the boarder it is wide open and you can just set the cruise and go.
Something else that was great: I crossed the border on the 4th of July (the detroit crossing) and parked on the Canada side of the river and watched my fellow Americans shoot fireworks over the river. Since it was our Fouth of July the Canadian's were extra friendly towards me. I enjoyed it.
