well i stay out about a month and a half sometimes more at a time... but they require you to stay out 3-4 weeks before getting home...
for every 6 days away from home you get 1 day at home... you can stay out for a long time, and stay home for a long time if you want..
it would be safe for me..as a driver at watkins to say that the avrg driver stays out for about 5-6+ weeks...
truthfuly i stay out longer so i can stay home longer but each peson is different...

welll they put the freeze in place cause it was really hard to get drivers home to MI, but i guess now they have enough freight to get drivers 2 and from mi
i would assume the same thing happend out in vegas as well
we have picked up a lot of really big accounts which is good

Huh, that's interesting. I have a friend that's looking to possibly get into trucking, and would like to be out of our LV terminal. I'll have to give him the heads up. Thanks, S2B

I have a question.. I have 3 yrs OTR. Been off the road about a month and a half.
My problem is I live in Michigan,,north of I-96, which seems to be the cut-off for many companies. I see W/S has a terminal in Detroit. I am 140 miles north of Detroit. My question is do you know if they will hire that far from the terminal? Staying out 3-4 weeks not much of a problem, but do they let a driver take the truck home? Thanks for any info..

Watkins Shepards policy is for trucks to remain at a terminal when on home time... and they will hire in a 100-120 mile radious around a terminal... if you have driving exp you will go to either Missoula Montana or Conover N.C for a 3day oriantation... and if you are a new cdl school grad you will go to either terminal, missoula or conover, to do a 10 day oriantation..
our terminal is not in Detroit, its in Taylor, a few miles off 75
