I have 15 years experience but my wife has none. She is wanting to get her cdl. Is there any good companies that would hire us and allow me to train her and eventually run as a team together?
I have experience with training. Most of my experience is pulling a flatbed and now I’m pulling a step deck coast to coast. She has been riding with me for 6 months now.
We would like to find a good reefer company that is not a starter company. We live in Mississippi. Need to get home every 6 weeks.
Teams, one with no experience

I know of two, but they're both starter companies.
The rules have changed and everyone must have formal training through a company registered with the FMCSA.
@brian991219 can explain that much better than I can.
If I'm not correct, brian991219 can straighten me out.Last edited: May 4, 2025 at 4:30 PM
larry_minn and austinmike Thank this. -
You might try/check out/talk to Total Transportation -- based on MS:
https://totalms.com/orientation/
Some of their freight is reefer -- & they are not a true starter company.

After the OP's spouse has completed the required entry level training and has their CDL then it is up to the individual motor carrier that hires them when the finishing training will look like. So for the OP to train their spouse the spouse will first have to complete a CDL program then they could do the finish training, if the hiring company allows.
If they want to do all the training then they would need to get with a company that is set up as a registered ELDT provider and be the instructor, otherwise they will not be able to do the classroom, range and on road portion of the training. That will be hard to find a company that will allow that.austinmike and Chinatown Thank this. -
Maybe try to work something out with KLLM or CR England. They're both coast-to-coast reefer outfits with training programs.
Maybe be a trainer with either and train your wife.

She will be going to a school first to get her cdl. I just don’t won’t to take a pay cut. We are going to talk to my company first to see what they say. Just want to get a plan-b first. My company requires 2 years experience but hoping with my experience they will allow it but it could be more of a insurance thing.
