    @FutureDriver25
    Welcome to the forum, good luck to you and your family! God bless you and your family!

    God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

    The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

    Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

    Swift probably hauls a lot of freight from the Valley and/or Laredo, so it would make sense for them to hire from South Texas.

    @FutureDriver25 There are LOTS of companies that have terminals in the Valley. If Swift doesn't hire you then one of those other companies probably will, once you get your CDL.

    Check stubs and W-2s are great for providing proof of employment.

    They send a written request to the previous employer, whom will verrify or deny the dates listed. Most will not hire you if your lieing on the application. Think about it your asking them to trust a Million Dollars worth of preperty to someone they cannot believe. If you go to Orientation before they get it verified make sure you knowhow your getting home, they do not supply transportation home if your not hired.

    As mentioned in previous posts, have either cash, a clean credit card, or a prepaid credit/debit card with sufficient funds on it to finance your way back home, either from orientation, or being out on the road, should you being a truck driver suddenly get laid off or terminated from your job.

    Don't lie, it will get found out and it will be a reason for termination. I remember speaking with a LEO and they told me how they have new programs (post 9/11) that can see everything, they bragged about how even if people got things expunged they would find it. Was friends with a girl that got fired out of the blue one day because they had decided to promote her and the background check for the new position revealed that she had lied about something 25 years before.
    Its more of an honesty test than a background check, you have to find honest ways to plow through the cubicle morons.
