my advice to you, is your brand new there give it some time because if you keep jumping ship every time you turn around something goes bad you’re gonna get to the point where you’re unemployable company that’s decent..

Went back to the devil I know lol. I was sitting on 7-hour unload in Athens, TN. On a whim I sent a txt to my former boss, hey any chance I can get a rehire? Sure, welcome back haha.
I guess IRT might work if you live in WH. But the uncompensated time is a deal breaker. It’s a matter of self respect, at least for me.
I’ve said my peace.Last edited: May 9, 2025
CalculatedRisk, Friend and nextgentrucker Thank this. -
This does a good job of explaining the split break options- Split Sleeper HOS: Explanation & Example
Even if you don't plan on using it, worth checking the box, the eld does the math for you, can save your clock loading or unloading at a slow customer. Just remember the big break has to be sleeper, the little break can be sleeper or off duty.Friend, Redtwin, JohnBoy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Random job hopping isn’t a plus. But staying in anything abusive only leads to more abuse. Sitting uncompensated for hours on end is abusive.JForce28, JohnBoy, navypoppop and 1 other person Thank this.

if you start a job and you sit for a few hours the first week it’s time to jump ship at that rate you’d run out of companies willing to hire you…Sirscrapntruckalot, JohnBoy, nextgentrucker and 1 other person Thank this.

@nextgentrucker doesn’t seem like a job hopper to me, he trained at, was hired by, and gave his first year to cypress, seems to me like he had this grandeur associated with the tank life, looks like that will be short lived. Go back to Cypress, you were paid well, aside from your dislike of the inward camera you were never wrote up for an infraction, I know the tarps suck so if you legitimately don’t want to go back because of that I can understand, I don’t see how you’ll find any satisfaction with Bynum though, you’re used to rolling, you’ve already seen in your short time there you’re going to be doing a lot of sitting.
motocross25 and nextgentrucker Thank this. -
I agree with you with the job hopping thing but hopefully it won't be freaking 9hrs to get loaded every time or I'll be gone in 6 months, I'm already only staying for 1 year here...Lonesome Thanks this.

@nextgentrucker I completely agree with this. Don’t let anyone poison your attitude. You need to take the bad with the good and keep some stability on your work history, especially right now since you have limited experience and the three license points you mentioned counting against you. This in an Indian River thread, and I’m not here to campaign for a competitor company, but on a person-to-person level, I think you should grind it out right now and make them a hand since they took a chance on you. You went to the trouble of getting your CDL, and you’re obviously eager to work instead of laying around on a couch feeling sorry for yourself. Don’t screw your career up right off the bat by taking a curve too fast and rolling your truck, and don’t screw it up by job jumping and allowing people to poison your attitude.Sirscrapntruckalot, Redtwin, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this.

You're right, although they are some things that I don’t like about Cypress but they're a lot better than Bynum in a lot of ways, first thing they fuel at Love's so that's a big one for me lol, Love's my points!! ( Pun intended ) I don't even know if we have bonuses here, at Cypress, I was getting $500 quarterly bonuses, And I can take my truck home. $50 a day for orientation, 3 days orientation so that’s $150, when we got to the orientation, there were a lot posters on wall like "If you do this, you'll be terminated, if you do that you'll be terminated" a lot of threats here imo. My trainer told me "You will be right back at Cypress next year when you're not making no money" LMFAO!!! Yeah, I was making money at Cypress, I was averaging $1200-$1300/week take-home, yeah I was sail away with the tanker dream, I don't mind waiting, not for a load, but the loading time, 2hrs is good 3hrs ( BTW, you get $15 detention pay after the first 4hr waiting to get loaded... ) max, anything above that is a "Nope". I just started here so I'll give it some time, I'm gonna stay here for a least a year, then depending on how things go, I'll be gone probably to another Tanker, I might try Dry Van but if anything doesn't work out, sounds like Cypress is home.
