Good evening everyone. I've been driving now for about 3 months and I had to share my experience with US XPRESS. I started back in February on their dedicated family dollar account and while I could do the work I wanted to do other things. I wanted OTR but my trainer convinced me to stay on with the dedicated family dollar account. Once inwas out on my own it was a nightmare. I went through 5 trucks because they had issues ranging from a bad knock sensor, roaches in the truck and some DEF issue on one where I was smelling fuel when the truck was idling before a delivery. They finally placed me in a 2025 cascadia and things were better. Also I wanted to video chat with my son more so on this account I couldn't do it. So I decided to go OTR or with their Dedicated Quad Graphics account. At that time I wasn't eligible for the quad graphics account because I was too far away from the Atlanta area. So I went OTR. initially it was just fine and I was enjoying OTR but then things went bad. Outside of Atlanta I had a trailer ABS light come on and after troubleshooting it it still stayed on and I was near a scale. So I had to wait until a mechanic could fix it. That made me late going to miami to drop the load and then I had jury duty and I didn't make it back for that. I did smooth things over with the court but that left me frustrated. So after that I had to take the truck in for maintenance and now this truck has a crack in the transmission case and needs a new one. I've been in Jacksonville for the past 3 days. My check today was $189 for the week. So I spoke with my uncle who's a truck driver and he recommended a few companies and one of them was Cyprus Truck lines. So I applied and I start at the end of the month. I did some skimming around on here and it see if anyone spoke about the company and it seems to be a good company. Has anyone had any issues with breaking down a lot?? I don't want to be jumping from carrier to carrier in my first year like this. Also they claim a pay of $1,400 to $1,800/week. Does anyone hit these numbers? Also I read they have driver facing cameras. I doubt US Xpress will get me in a truck this weekend so I'm thinking about going back to tallahassee tomorrow to get my car and drive back over. I have a bad feeling that since I put in my two weeks notice I'm gonna get jerked around.

Why not ask Cypress to have a new driver contact you so you can ask his some questions? DO NOT ASK HIM "Is this a good company." Ask him to describe last week. Ask him to describe his equipment. Ask him to describe time-off, etc.

3 months experience and they already put you in a 2025 truck? I’d be staying right where you’re at, as someone at USX is trying to do you right. That is worth a lot. I’d request a detailed plan forward, while this new truck is getting a replacement transmission. Are they putting you in a loaner while the repair is being performed? Are they wanting you to sit in JAX during the repair? Do they have an equivalent replacement truck you can hop into as a permanent replacement? Ask questions like that. You need to give whomever at USX the benefit of the doubt. As it is, you’re completely giving up on someone doing their dangedest to take care of you. It would be different, if no one was trying. Jumping to another ship might very well be way worse. What are you going to do when the next truck breaks down? Jump to another ship. I promise you, each jump is going to be to the next lower level. The only way you can jump to the next level above is to do some time at USX and earn credibility. Once you get a couple years under your belt, start shopping for a better, more esteemed opportunity. If you bail every time you encounter adversity, it shows you’re not committed. No reputable company is going to ever consider you, with you doing that.
What I know of Cypress, from the late-90’s, is they’re a bottom of the barrel flatbed company.Bumper, hotrod1653, runningman0661 and 1 other person Thank this. -
