You got canned BECAUSE YOUR THE PROFFESSIONAL DRIVER! If your instructor who ever it may be did'nt explain to you that everytime you are involved in an accident.......you will always be at fault! Your supposed to know whats around you at all times, at 55 mph you should be 6-7 car lengths behind the vehicle in front of you ensuring proper stopping distance 320 ft'. That's why werner had to settle, thats why you got canned, the courts know you have a CDL class A stating that you are a proffessional and are held to a higher level. I think the only way you might not get a ticket is if there is nothing you could have done differently by definition of the law, ie..she slammed into the back of you and even then when your being tailgated your supposed to increase your distance in front for stopping and more than likely they'll go around. So you see? we'll always be at fault.........be safe.
Werner is a good company

I am really saddened by what happened to 'ghost' but I still say he can't speak for everyone. My bf has been with Werner for almost a year and has always gotten the time he requested off for simple things like weddings and birthdays. Maybe it depends on how understanding of a dispatcher/manager you have and that's pretty much decided by luck.
I DO though understand how bad the terminals can be. You wait for days on the simplest repair and (as far as me and the bf have seen) are barely shown the basic nicities such as a smile...
I also should mention that maybe pay depends on where you live. Me and my bf are from NJ and he certainly makes enough for a cell phone (a simple one with no internet, just calling/texting and voice mail) and rent and going out for entertainment, such as movies, etc. when he gets home with me. Although we rent an apt and have no kids so that could have something to do with it as well.
And yes, my bf has been in a minor accident that should not have been his fault but he is the professional on the road, he (in any situation) should have know better. It's just a lesson learned to drive extremely cautiously to cover your own ### because once involved in an accident you (as the professional driver) will always be raked over the coals. But yes, my bf's trainer did explain to him that an accident would always be his fault which puts the fear into you to drive extremely defensively.foodmojo Thanks this. -
Gentlemen a little help .... I have received a postcard from werner that my application has been pre approved, does this mean that my dac report is good and past employers gave me a thumbs up and now all I have to do is be able to show them I can drive and I'm in.
The reason I ask is that I seem to remember someone saying on the forum that they were approved given a bus ticket then at the end of their orientation they cut him and he was left in that city without a bus ride home, not sure but I think it was because they caught him in a lie on his application.
My problem is that I work in a seasonal line of work in the north east and I was in and out of so many jobs it is imposable to get my jobs straight along with the dates. I was in the heating industry and after my lay off I would get a job in driving. Then after my 3 month layoff return to that company and pissed off a lot of trucking company's not that I plan on doing this to wearner as I will fall under the heading of trainee and would not profit any by doing this for 3 months as I could collect $410 unemployment and make more then if I worked for them.
My problem is I would like to start to work for Werner out of Florida so if I move down there and start orientation in Georgia or where ever it is and to then be cut and be stuck in Florida with the ability to fix heating equipment, I'm going to starve to death. I could start out of New York and make sure I get hired first but then I will have to find the time to make that move to Florida with all my belongings and trying to find a place to live, I don't think I could do all this during my time off. what do you recommend ?????? Thank youLast edited: Apr 27, 2010
