Seeing the lower 48 is worth it way more than the worry about some snow or bad weather.

Taking I-80 through Wyoming instead of I-70 through Colorado adds about 50 miles and it's usually much better in the winter. I'd almost prefer that route in the summer if I have a heavy load (which is pretty much always with tanker) just because there's so many steep grades and curves on I-70.

I completely agree. Even with the additional miles, it’s probably the same time or quicker since most of I-80 is wide-open throttle. I-70 is good once or twice in nice weather for the scenery experience. After that, it’s for the birds. I always feel sick at my stomach from the elevation / lower oxygen after I run it.

LMFAO!!! You might be right... Funny things is, my second job, the one that I wanted to do was gonna be a desk job, too bad it didn't work out. But I'm bad at math so maybe that elevation wasn't that high so my fault on that LOL!!!

Cool!! Now I know which way to go when going to the Westcoast from the Midwest.

Yeah, I asked for hometime Friday, but they gonna send me home early tomorrow so that's good. I asked for a load to go home with, I'm gonna pickup some orange juice from Florida's Natural Growers in Lake Wales and deliver or drop it in Fort Pierce then go home, I'm gonna come out next Tuesday.

I don't care for the east coast compared to the west coast. I love driving midwest to CA or WA. Even the traffic in CA, I'm used to it, and I miss driving in the state - even with the 55mph limit. They generally won't bother you if you drive 62 in the desert.

I started driving semi again in April of 15, after a 20 year break, where I drove straights. I did a lot of WA runs with water heaters from MI. One of my first runs I had to take 395 south from Carson City to San Diego. Loved it! The scenery was amazing. What I'm getting at is that winter is over. Now is the time to head west - when the weather is great. Cut your teeth on the Rockies now, and you'll open up your opportunities.

It's not the only route. Depending on where you pick up, you can go 44-40 into SoCA; or 70 to us156 (just west of Salina, KS) to us56 to us283 to us54 to 40 into SoCA. Both take around the same time. The 2nd doesn't have any big cities, from Salina to 40. It's a nice drive, IMO.

    Cool.

Yeah, but what's the grades on them US road though. I try to stay on the interstate when going through mountainous states unless I've done them before.
