I think that you should be fortunate if anyone will hire you. You're 2 plus years out of a truck but you're not so experienced in which you'll have a lot of choices. That said, I broke into trucking with them. Granted it was 2010, but the same complaints I hear now were the same as back then. My experience was better. I had a good dispatcher, and ran my ### off. I did what they asked of me. They kept me busy. If you can block out the noise and focus on getting experience, you'll have a chance to do well there. If they're the only ones that'll take you, you better take it and hit the road. You need to show some experience and consistency, then the industry will begin to open up for you.

    BIGdiesel,

Your CDL employment issues are as follows:
    1. You have no CDL endorsements. Thus -- you have no real way to distinguish yourself from others applying for the same jobs. This also severely limits your shot at many of the better-paying CDL gigs.
    2. Gaps in employment. Unless you can fill those in with compelling reasons -- those are "red flags" to many CDL carriers.
    3. An incredibly sucky CDL job market. In many areas -- to accurately describe how bad it really is -- would be well beyond the scope of even remotely polite conversation.
    4. Your tenure at your CDL jobs has apparently (for the most part, anyway) been pretty short. Carriers view this of course as yet another "red flag".
If you do in fact land a CDL class "A" job anytime soon -- you really need to hang in there & keep it, for quite a while (at least 2 years -- but longer would be better).

What about Boeing? A lot of chicks are getting Rosie The Riveter type jobs there.

Some new CDL grads in Florida were also having problems finding jobs. They were hired by the companies at the International Airports.
I posted those companies in your thread, so maybe luck out.

Before applying with Western Express  -- you might instead apply with the following carriers first (unless you previously have, already):

    • Frey Miller
    • Marten Transport
    • Wilson Logistics
You already have enough CDL experience for the above carriers; it just depends on whether or not they are hiring in your area ....& how much they are willing to overlook your employment gaps.

Submit a complete application to each/any on-line (instead of just calling them). Wait at least a week (a bit longer is probably better)...& then call in to their recruiting dept -- & ask about the status of your application.

None of those listed above will require you to have any CDL endorsements.

He does not want to accept the truth and most likely is in poor physical shape.
