He pulled the injectors to pressure test the cups that’s just where a set of the wires landed…just a guess

I should add @DeereRunner97 had this engine rebuilt before I got it. Maybe a total of 35k miles on it til it started using coolant.i don't remember all that was done but I know he had put 1 or more heads on it when he was running it

It cracked the head on number 5, on the intake side. So I had an OEM Cummins head and Cummins head gasket. The block was never sent out, and it used coolant ever since I got it back after the first rebuild. Sent it back after like about 45k and he said the head gasket wasn’t set right. So he threw another head gasket on and clearly still burns coolant.

Did they cut the counterbores the first time? It can be done in truck, so they wouldn't have necessarily had to send it out.

It’s very clean up top, it definitely shows it’s had recent work. Already had a head in that 35K. I would venture to speculate that it’s counterbore is off whether they cut it or not. It’s just too clean, which says to me it’s been took care of as best as possible from the operators view point. A #### shame really but at this point all you can do is fix it and move forward.

I want to stress failure analysis here, knowing what failed and why is key to getting a scald on the fix.
