@D.Tibbitt, do you have anywhere remotely cleaner to do this work?
I threw down some tarps in the hay barn and drove over them, then used tarps to block any wind.
I'd check on getting one cut before you start pulling it down, might be tough to get someone to do it outside.
And make sure you have the tools you need to check liner protrusion. I've got a sled gauge and a liner puller you can use if needed.

Unfortunately I don't, I got a couple tarps I can set up like u did. I probably do similar.. just working with what I got ... seems like my biggest hurdle is finding the time to tear into it.. hardly get home maybe 1 day or 2 days a month. Probably have to find a different company with better hometime..Walk Among Us, singlescrewshaker, sawmill and 14 others Thank this.

Nope, it was never counterbored. Which is probably where I went wrong.singlescrewshaker, sawmill, 1951 ford and 12 others Thank this.

Ahhh. There are a set of head bolts under the cam. Once you put the head down and torque, you are supposed to wait 24 hours and retorque. Once the cams are installed it’s impossible to do this. I bet they didn’t torque the head again.singlescrewshaker, sawmill, 1951 ford and 15 others Thank this.

I didn’t know that. I know he set it down and torqued it. Never mentioned waiting 24 hours to retorque. It makes sense though. At the point in the job, he probably wanted it out his shop.singlescrewshaker, sawmill, 1951 ford and 12 others Thank this.

It’s been a while since I’ve done one, but I’m pretty certain the book says to wait then do it again. Can’t remember if it’s 90’ after the second time or not. And it may just be over night and not 24 hourssinglescrewshaker, sawmill, 1951 ford and 12 others Thank this.
