This is true...I have spent countless hours for the last month and a half,,searching and researching,, threads and web sites..."Information Overload" is what I'm suffering from...I find a company that looks decent,,only to find because of my location (Mid-Michigan) it's a no go..
So I go on with the search...I even reapplied with my former company..won't say who but they have white trucks, Only to find a hiring freeze above I-96. (that would be Lansing)
So my list of options is getting smaller and smaller...don't want to jump into any truck..just to have a job..some companies can really mess up a drivers record. Job hopping does'nt look good ethier. Don't wish to work for peanuts,,but then again at times this does seem like a circus. Blah Blah Blaha...on and on it goes.
Well anyway...gotta go..finally got thru on the physic hot line..maybe they can help me out...lol

    Hey gladiator,

I too am having the exact same problems you are:biggrin_2551: I am guessing that because everybody and their brother isn't working they are very picky at who these companys are bringing on..... it wasn't like this 3 years ago.
I'll keep in touch and let you know how I'm doing on finding an OK company to work for. Send me your email and I'll send you one I know is very good. They won't hire back when you leave so I'm not allowed to go back...shame on me.

Just spent some time reading quite a bit of this thread...Most if not all of these situations are real typical of most any carrier..and when one is in a limited hiring area, well need I say more.
I to have gotten into hometime disputes..even spent nearly two days at the pilot near Martiansburg WV. I was 3 days past hometime (out 21 days) and loads I was being sent would have extened that several days. Was told no freight going my direction...well I got "huffy" told them guess I'll sit here till there is...There is more to this story,,but you get the idea. My company allowed just 4 days max, or had to turn in trk and get different one after hometime...
Bad directions, messed up pick up/delivery times, MTY trl seaches, brokedown trks,
people who don't seem to care, lack of communication, unreturned favors, no miles,no money, this list could go on and on...I have expierenced all of this in the same week seems like..
I have been known to cuss, scream,##### and hollar..and as hard as it is sometimes drivers need a real thick skin...

This is true,,did'nt think finding another OTR job would too hard,,or would have stayed where I was...I thought how bad could it be, but when these big companies, (we all know who they are) won't sign you on...what it boils down to is getting a driver home and back out again, with the least amount of expense to the company.
Many companies deliver to the greater Michigan area..but won't hire from most of them..
There is a Super Walmart, Sams Club, Meijer, Home Depot, all of which the company I was with, as well as others deliver to quite a bit, just 30 miles from my house..but anyway..where "bouts in Michigan are you... Me about 7 miles east of St. Louis..

I live over in Midland and have family on the other side of you by Riverdale and Edmore. You would think living in Sparkle City (Dow world Headquarters) and all GM/Delfi in the area I would have lots of companies to choose from. Not to mention all the big box stores in the tri cities and Mt Pleasant.

Not sure, hadn't heard about him leaving. As for the wash, I carry a bottle of dawn dish soap and my own brush bought at a truck stop and wait until after everyone has gone home and do it myself. Come's out a hell of a lot better and no streaks.
