Oh Canada… need help with entry : )

I live in BC and back in 2013 I was returning from Spokane back home with a used front idler/ track tensioner for our dozer. I was seriously hassled/bullied by an extremely rude Canadian border guard…took me two hours to get through the computerized process. I may as well have been importing radioactive material

Meanwhile the same guard had a women in tears….her horses were sweltering for an extended period of time in summer heat in her horse trailer while he continued to hassle/bully her.

This, however, in my experience has been the exception. Most crossings have been pleasant/smooth. I will say though that overall I always found the American side to be ‘nicer’…

 

They don’t have as much time for game playing and nonsense. A lot more people come down into the US than go up into Canada so they can’t sit around giving everyone the third degree or the day would never end.

Not being Canadian I don’t know how they treat Canadian tourists or truck drivers coming down here but if I had to guess it’s probably less nonsense too because again, a LOT of Canadians like to come down here and hang out but not so much the other way.

 

I will say Dave McMillan (the “Smart Trucking” guy on YouTube) was a cool Canadian driver. 379 flat top Pete and did most of his running down in the States. Most of them you can tell ain’t American though by the way they drive and how their trucks look. You can spot the Frenchies and Canucks a mile away.
