Either way we’ll be ready for it.Previous trucks only had the CA certified clean idle stickers. The new trucks have both CA and US clean idle stickers now.
My fleet manager said that I qualified for a new truck but I told her that after the last debacle involving KW’s I’ll wait until the company buys the next batch of Freightliner Cascadias!! My truck just only hit 81K miles and has only been active in the fleet 9 months!

PACCAR MX13-455hp is already 2027 compliant. They did that with the Next Gen trucks and is why all the injector issues. That spec is the quietest, smoothest engine I’ve ever driven. However, like so many others, I had failures and am, now, running the previous generation injectors. It’s louder and rougher running, because of it. Before, I could run the thing at 800-900rpm and it was like sewing machine. Not so much, now. Mine is a 2022 build for 2023MY.
That 2025 has LED projector beams and halogen high beams, same assemblies as mine. It’s a strange setup, hitting the high beams and the light output is brown. -
All of our PACCAR trucks are using Cummins X-15s,with exception to maybe some of the day cabs.ducnut Thanks this.

It’s not. Next year the Paccar and Cummins both get a stacked system with two piece def/scr like they used to be (instead of the one piece now) and both have said they will use a separate 48v alternator to generate heat for the DPF. The alternator on the Paccar will be crank/flywheel driven while the x15 will be belt driven.

A KW tech is who told me they were 2027 compliant, so was just repeating what I was told.
PACCAR can’t deal with what we already have. I’m dreading how bad the next generation of trucks are going to be. I don’t believe my employer have anything on order, after getting burned by these Next Gen trucks. -
Cheap freight destruction strikes again

Not with ours. Our 2024-2025 Next Gens use halogen bulbs on both the low and high beams, even though the projector looked like a LED.
Had to change out the bulbs on my 2024 when one burned out. OEM equipment wasn’t available at the time so I had to use aftermarket bulbs with a blue tint.
Customer preferred option.ducnut Thanks this. -
I was under the impression EPA Administrator Zelden has suspended the upcoming rules for compliance engines?
-
That’s interesting.
My shop doesn’t stock them, so they have to be ordered or I have to go 65mi out of route to another location who do stock them. Crazy, to run companies like this.mjd4277 Thanks this. -
You don't just waive a wand and go back to older engines. In 3.5 years there will be another administration. Whether it's an R or a D won't matter because politics business as usual those newer compliance engines are right on schedule to be coming. In fact nothing changes and they will be here in another year bank on it.ducnut and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this.
