I like em down to the injectors. When it gets down to pullin heads, i get pissed. "But 3 heads is easier", yeah, whatever. I always got ones that a fellow hillbilly strongarmed the fuel jumper screws and I end up backin one or two out with a chisel.
60's are simple, I guess I'm simple too.Friend, singlescrewshaker, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 12 others Thank this. -
Except when a 60 is in a Cascadia and it takes more time to remove the cowl just to get the valve cover off then it does to replace the injector

I could see that. Luckily I've never seen one in a Cascadia.singlescrewshaker, OLDSKOOLERnWV, jamespmack and 10 others Thank this.

Probably where Centuries, they all look alike, I just know I said a lot of bad words when I had to work on one.Friend, singlescrewshaker, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 12 others Thank this.

My preferences were;
1: E model CAT (even the acerts)
2: B model Cat
3: Big Cam and Small Cam Cummins
4: N14 Cummins
5: Anything GreenFriend, singlescrewshaker, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 12 others Thank this. -
Oh yeah. Those and the Columbias sucked. They weren't so bad (depending) once you got the rockers off, but running the overhead on 5 and 6 was a PITA, as was getting the valve cover back on without rolling the gasket.singlescrewshaker, jamespmack, CAXPT and 11 others Thank this.

Yeah, I'd have to go 60's, then E's, then the rest
Starting mid 90's that was the majority of what came through the dealership. And with USA Truck less than a mile away, I had plenty of 60's to work and learn on.singlescrewshaker, OLDSKOOLERnWV, jamespmack and 8 others Thank this. -
I was at an independent shop for 13 years. I got a lot of everything. Including a few diesel motor homes. Doing a service in your socks is no fun.

1998ish Century or 1997 did not have a removable cowling. There was a bunch of trucks built with one piece valve covers on 60. Engine installed, then cab installed. Normally it was the first tune up when it was discovered you could not remove the valve cover. Factory procedure was to unbolt, raise, install a block of wood in the middle between head and valve cover, smash valve cover till its broken into pieces. Clean and reinstall a 3 piece valve cover.singlescrewshaker, CAXPT, Feedman and 10 others Thank this.
