Depends on the condition of the truck and if it’s a short hood.
A southern truck,if it’s not stuck in the hole,about a hour.
A rusty northern truck maybe upwards of three. -
Short hood, southern truck.
My truck.
Can you clean the piston and spring, regrease the seals? Reinstall?Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Depends on what kind of condition the spring is in.
I would just replace it with new since it’s already out.Bean Jr., Big Road Skateboard and KDHCryo Thank this. -

If the unloader is in the compressor head time is good. I would not go through all that and not replace the compressor. Do that compressor deal yourself and you would like to pay someone 12 hours. Just not at that labor rate.KDHCryo Thanks this.

Changed the unloader valve today (finally, been off 2 weeks working on the house). Did not remove the steer, just the inner fender. Wiggled my fat ### in there, used the bendix unloader valve kit, done in 3 hours.
Spring on the plunger was broken in half, had to fish it out with the valve body.
Builds air like new now. Saved $2000 in labor and parts.
Dealer wanted to put a new compressor on, refused to just change the unloader valve.062 and BoxCarKidd Thank this.
