Intention was for the carrier to enforce. When you only worry about the intent if/when you're audited it doesn't mean much.
Why states will adopt as traffic laws with a fine.
Most OOS was through state statues, not ICC/OMC/FMCSA. They gave administrative fines.
CVSA made most standard in the early 80's

I like the idea, all except the part about them being in jail for 10 years. I recommend chain gang, that way I don’t have to pay for all their meals while they sit around in the air conditioning, living a better life than I am right now

This business would not last long lol
If they really start enforcing it for at least few months and deport couple people who don't have citizenship or green card, all the drivers who live here on some kind of parole or temporary protection status, will quit trucking right away.

    D.Tibbitt and Concorde Thank this.

I think very few would quit or go home of their own accord. The odds of getting caught are relatively low, and hey, if you get deported, free flight home! I wish we could could get rid of the low life brokers who fund their parade. You no speak English, you no haul freight. Done.

Amazon gave notice to make sure your drivers can speak English. This is probably how this will get enforced more than law enforcement. Brokers will just not use you if you get caught one time by the law or a complaint from shipper/receiver.

Radman, Lonwolv54 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Let's hope so. A move like you describe would go a long way toward restoring some of the professionalism to this industry.
Trucking will survive. It always has. It always will.

Don't feel bad. My dads side goes back to 1750's Virginia. I feel like we should be royalty, but Native Americans say Hold my Beer

I hope so too. I'd like to see the industry thriving again. It's really the companies that disregarded the law and hired unqualified drivers that should hold most of the accountability. They basically undercut the average cost to operate which allowed them to move the cheap freight at a profit..tanking rates.

I dont think anything will happen unfortunately.. These foreigners already dont play by the rules.. Running 2 mc numbers, duct tape to the side of their truck, hundreds of companies and brokers registered to the same apartment address where they dont live... What good is another rule gonna do for criminals?

It's a start and if we don't start nothing will happen. Nothing good, anyway.
