Crawling around under the 860 and found this corrosion and looks like it should be replaced before it becomes an issue.
in searching the inerwebs i think this is called a def pipe and those are coolant lines to keep the def from freezing . I find part number 23484019 for under 100 delivered. Looks like some tabs keep the hoses locked onto the pipe. Has any one replaced this assembly before, any input appreciated.
Is there a coolant shut off or do I have to catch it all in a bucket once the hose is disconnected? What holds the pipe assembly in place?![]()

It looks to be welded to the bracket. Should be rubber hoses under the braided wrap. Go back about a foot or so from the end and clamp them off and shouldn’t lose much coolant.
palmeris Thanks this. -
photo of replacement, looks like a bolt hole on the bracket keeps the assembly mounted

Thank you for the clamp idea, should work out

That pipe is a good candidate for undercoating. Tape the ends where the hoses go on. Rubberized undercoating is sold in spray cans at Walmart and auto parts storespalmeris Thanks this.

I have some bed liner spray, that should work. Good idea thank you

Those connectors tend to fill up with dirt and you usually damage them trying to disconnect them. Replace the short lines coming off the corroded tube and replace the ones on the lines coming from the engine.

Do you push in on the tab to get it to release ? They dont look to bad, maybe some compressed air and some wd 40 to clean up first?
-
Yes there’s two tabs opposite of each other. You have to press both at the same time. It helps if you can press towards the metal pipe first, then squeeze the tabs.Big Road Skateboard and palmeris Thank this.

DEF lines break so easy. I swear they use the cheapest and least durable plastic clip together #### on everything these days.
Take your time with those connectors, patience is a virtue.palmeris Thanks this.
