I talked to Sandy today from the recruiting office. she sent me some information on benefits and pay. I would be coming out of the Indy terminal. I would have to drive to Indy from my house so that's another 2.5 hrs. I am seriously considering this. I am just impressed with all the good things I've read on here. Sandy was very helpful and was able to provide me with some very good info. After talking with her and reading all these posts it just makes me want to get out and start my classes now.
I will be going to Conover for my 10 training after school. Man am I looking forward to it. Take care guys and talk to you soon.

    beezer Thanks this.

Here's a good example: The run I'm on now is 2100+, CA to GA. The next pre-plan they have for me is 173 miles....sometimes you get nice long runs, sometimes you get short ones....but the only time I've sat waiting was over a weekend and I was in a pretty desolate location...on Monday they had me deadhead back to Denver, and I had a load the next day.

Sandy just said I would have to drive to that terminal and then be gone 3-4 wks. For every 6 days out I get 1 day off. Pay starts at .27cpm. They have the bonus which is paid monthly. She said with all the other items that they pay you could easily reach $40,000 for your first year out.
some of these guys that are on here now could verify that. So guys if you want to chime in anytime that would be great.
I haven't been on the website to see the terminal. Is there anybody out there that has been to the Indy Terminal that can give us some info?

    Beezer,

Give them a call. all the folks I talked to so far have been very helpful. They have all been willing to answer any questions I have and most gave me information before I even had to ask for it.

I've been there once, to pick up some paperwork that didn't make the Fed-Ex...it's right off I44 (I think it's 44), about a mile, on the eastern side of the city...not very big, but the people there seemed friendly enough. You probably wouldn't have much interaction with them as you'd be dispatched out of Missoula. It's in an industrial park. Look on the WS website and find the terminal info, then google map the address.

Well, I finished my last delivery this morning with a drop and hook. That's always nice! I was supposed to drop this empty and pick up a loaded one, but when I got to the shipper, they said they had no WS trailers available to load, and I have to wait....might be most of the day. Sucks.....but maybe I can get a nap :biggrin_25518:

edit: Just as I hit the submit button, they called me and said I could pull into the door as soon as it clears, unhook, and wait until they call me again when it's loaded...odd way of doing things, but they don't have much room here

edit #2: Got into my door and they are loading me as I type this! WOO HOO!! Glad they decided to load me before "my time", which was sometime this afternoon. Oh, and I got me a nice, new, shiny 3800 series Hyundai trailer with Super Singles!! See how that pulls with 45k in the box...

I would say making $40,000/yr is doable. There is a learning curve with this job so the first month on the road for most is the least productive. I went to the west coast after making a run to Michigan and then turned and burned right back to NC. I spent a whole day trying to get around Nashville due to floods, only to spend the night parked under a bridge, that was interesting.:biggrin_25523: Found my way out the next day and finished my delivery. Taking some hmtm now.
