Well, I can understand why they do it. It is a demanding lifestyle and they want to know the investment they made is safe and going to payoff. Every good paying job I've had is going to some type of physical ability test. I tested to work in Corrections here in PA and they run you through a series of physical demands. you have to get a certain score in 6 areas then they average it out or something and you pass with a certain score.
As far as trucking companies I don't mind them doing it. They need to know you aren't going to fall climbing in and out of the truck. They need to know you aren't skipping part of the pre-trip because you can't bend down to see. You know I really don't think it's to mess with ya. Its to protect their investment.

I understand that they want to make sure you are able to do the job but I don't see the reason why you have to perform at an athletic level. I've run solo when my husband was on medical leave and was able to do all phases of the job. And what about all the unfit drivers who are lucky to be employed who are so unfit that they can hardly get in and out of the truck. I realize this is just a moaning point as it is what it is and one has to adjust and get in shape (if out of shape) and exercise the heart to get ready for the tests.
Schneider kicks you out as soon as you fail one part of the test and you have to wait 6 months to reapply. I wish they would let you go to your doctor and get everything under control and try again.
What is Roehl's policy? Do they give you a second chance or are they the same?

From what I've read you are disqualified and are done... Don't know if they'll let you re-apply even... But you are right it is what it is....

I've been trying some of the exercises, and I dont really think it will be too hard to stay under 177 pulse.. I've been walking 2 miles, and alternate run 10 ft, walk 20 ft, run 10ft, walk 20ft.. and I stacked two wooden pallets ontop of each other, and been doing the 12" step for 2 minutes.. I'm excited to get started... My pulse cant be over 172.....

Well it sounds like you are ready. I wish I knew why as one gets older the target heart rate lowers.
