The fuel pump on the gen engine is probably a variable - constant speed governor. The shafts in mine had never moved in so long we could not make them move. Put the truck pump on it. Swapped buttons and shims to get the rail pressure and RPM I wanted. That is a pump rebuild for most folks.
They are not set up for trucks. At 16 - 1800 rpm mine has a lot of unburned fuel weez in the exhaust. Twist it on up and it is happy.
Stomp the go pedal, turn the sky black and leave.

Thank you for the replies. The gen engine is set at 380hp @ 1800rpm. I do think it is a high flow but that is just based on pics. It does have the top stop injectors. Just looking for a little more power if I swap. Truck is a Kenworth t400 and in too good of shape not to put back on road. Ideally I'd like to fit a M11 in but running out of time before harvest.

Same crankshaft deal. Making it low flow was not so bad. Your 380 @ 1800 might do better than mine.

What HP is yours? To convert to low flow were you able to just use parts from the old engine?

Mine is actually an M11 mechanical. Was told it was a Cummins bare block overhaul. The data tag is all hand scribed. The CPL, HP and such do not match up. It has step timing but is not set up the same as truck engines with step timing. So I do not really know.
Water pumps are the same. Just swap out that plate down the right side, oil cooler and all that stuff. No problem.
Just have to have the same balancer location or walk away.

I have been trying to do pictures because if you do not have pictures it is not real. However I am not quite of this time zone. Have not been able to get Weather Underground and JD parts catalog to work for several weeks. Looked and looked and looked and found this Chrome Book power wash deal. " Every thing will be as new." Well that is a lye because all my preset favorite places are still there. However all my pictures are gone. Weather and Catalog still do not work. Have some truck pics on my phone but that does not share that balancer deal.

Mine had a bad crank and I traded for this engine as is where is. Was not concerned about HP. I ran the scribed CPL # today, it says 365 HP / 330 @ 1900. We were all in the middle of it and found out about the crankshaft deal. Then did it something like this. Bought another crank pulley hub. Do not remember if we cut and turned one in a lath or both. Put shoulders on them that stacked like fan spacers on an old automobile water pump. Ordered extra long bolts. I still have it. I think I'll just try and find a like L10 that's in the truck now and transplant it in. Current one needs a cam kit.

Thank you for the reply. I seem to have to ability of turning people away but do not mean to.
L10's have not been made in a long time. You know what you have. I would tend to put a cam in it.
When you buy that engine from honest John you really know nothing about that unless you find a special deal. Army surplus storage or such.
Mine has a pin hole in a liner now.
