Well aint that some ####.
I haven't been to Gerdau since like April? Started running freight for a different agent and he keeps me away from there. Although those loads and Nucor loads are payin good it seems, might look into doing some going out of state.

I remember one of those old time washing machines. I got my hand caught in it when I was a couple years old. Skinned my thumb area. I was always getting into stuff that would have killed normal children.

I like my truck, just not sure I like it enougjh to go through the aggrevation to do it. No need for the double for what I do, and I'd be surprised if it doesn't add 2k #'s.singlescrewshaker, 1951 ford, CAXPT and 10 others Thank this.

I don't know that it'd be that much. IIRC steel weighs about 40 lbs per sq ft @ 1" thick. I'd say you might shave 800 lbs off the tare. Still not an insignificant amount.
Where my issue came from was the rust jacking between the flanges was so bad the inner liner was locked in. Spent an entire weekend with the torch, sledge and angle grinder taking them out. I should have just rolled the entire suspension out and saved myself the trouble of working around it. After seeing how trashed the rails were I ended up grafting new rails on from the rear of the cab anyways so it was a wasted weekend.singlescrewshaker, 1951 ford, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 9 others Thank this. -
I need to find another one for home. Throw in the blackest pile of work pants you can think of and let er run. Works way better than a normal washing machine for stuff like that.Friend, singlescrewshaker, Gatordude and 10 others Thank this.

I was in southern California 20 years or so ago, food truck shows up near the Wherehouse I was delivering to. Only one person could speak English, told the guy I liked spicey foods. He said something to all his buddies and they all started laughing. He pointed to something on the menu and even the guy on the food truck started laughing. food comes out and I take a bite.......everyone is watching me. I walk over to the truck and drown it with habanero sauce. They all walked away shaking their heads.Friend, singlescrewshaker, Gatordude and 13 others Thank this.

@D.Tibbitt, you played around any in the mountains south of Luna, NM? Got to take a couple loads of hay there and over to Datil .
singlescrewshaker, Gatordude, 1951 ford and 5 others Thank this. -
Datil is right on 60, west of 25. Good road out that way. Should be no problem. Get to go by the large array radio telescope. Kind of a cool place.
They have tours you can sign up and schedule.
Luna is kinda out there a bit. Off 180, decent road. Just have to go around the block to get there. Not a lot around the place. You can get out that way from Datil on 12 to 180
Should have no problem getting to either of them. Just make sure you got fuel and food/water.
Only go out that way a few times a year.Last edited: Jul 19, 2025
