You won't be disappointed. The sunrise coming over the mts in the CA desert is amazing. Snowscapes in Utah and Montana - equally stunning.

Alright! Finally got a load going to California... Picking up from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Sacramento, California. Dropped a dirty tank at the Quala tank wash, they shared the lot with Caledonia Haulers, was looking forward to seeing @Cobrawastaken, guess he's not here lol. Jokes aside, I'd like to know the best way to go there and the only one I see is I-80 west all the way, I'm kinda nervous to be honest, first time going out west, anything to watch out for would be appreciated, thanks!!!

MIT, Speed_Drums, Knucklehead and 1 other person Thank this. -
Not much to be nervous about this time of year. You’ll hit the truckee scales, and they don’t play. After you make it past those, it’s downhill all the way to Sacramento. Pick a gear that works, and stay in it as much as possible going down.
Knucklehead, nextgentrucker and Cobrawastaken Thank this. -
Lol yeah I'm over in Charlotte, NC at the Quala tank wash for the night. They had me deadhead down here from Chambersburg to pick up tomorrow morning here in Charlotte going somewhere in Wisconsin. Don't remember the townnextgentrucker Thanks this.

Yeah... That's one of the things I'm worrying about... I've never had an inspection before and I heard it's crazy on the West Coast with them. #### downhill from there, they're that big huh, I have an automatic so hopefully it picks a good one for them freaking mountains lol!!
Nice, this load will be my biggest one yet.Cobrawastaken Thanks this. -
I’ve been DOT by CHP before and it’s quite the opposite at least in my experience dealing with them. It was very cordial and what not… a piece of advice, especially at this time of year since the weather is good go down the mountain in one gear less than you went up in turn your engine brakes on full throttle and just let it work itself down the hill at most you might have to just tap on the brakes slightly once or twice going down that hill. Donner is more of a gradual downhill all the way to Sacramento so you should not have any issues… When you’re going up parleys in Utah going into Salt Lake pretty much just follow what the signs tell you and keep it down gear and your engine brakes on and you should be fine as well… Same thing going with the passes in Nevada on 80…Speed_Drums, wulfman75, nextgentrucker and 1 other person Thank this.

Cool, thanks, I'll keep them in mind.

CHP is always Cordial and nice. But at the same time, they can end your career with a smile on their face.
nextgentrucker, drvrtech77 and Cobrawastaken Thank this. -
If you've run the I-68 into Cumberland, Donner will be a breeze.
Cobrawastaken, nextgentrucker, drvrtech77 and 1 other person Thank this.
