They have all the number statistics behind these crashes but won't say who's driving these trucks? They know those statistics but of course won't ever say!!! Why is that? Wanna guess???? SMH

BALONEY! It's a combination of crappy, out of date roads,( we still have the dreaded 3 lane atrocities), three(3) interstates, that are inundated by campers and ultimate behemoths driven by old ladies, combined with impatient distracted 4 wheelers, you tell me. I know what you're thinking, but impaired driving, while surpassed by distracted driving, BTW, is relatively low. Trucks? Nah, trucks here have an impeccable record considering the terrain, and I'm very proud of them. When there is a crash involving a truck, most all the time, it's from someone not familiar with the hills, and usually fatal. Picking on trucks has always been big business for "The Strong Arm", and easy pickens, most everyone has a kindred hate for trucks, if you aren't in one, that is. Sorry for the rant, I'm a transplant from the Midwest, where there are no hills to speak of, but it was clear to me right away, what a magnificent job these drivers do here.

I have always maintained that when it comes to stats, to ALWAYS use caution because depending on who did the analysis and their possible agendas, the possibility of manipulated results is possible. Another thing about that headline! Notice a word? "Crashes INVOLVING commercial vehicles." There is no mention of blame. According to this, I could be driving west on I-70 in my Prostar, doing nothing wrong. Be fully rested and have everything in my vehicle in proper working order. Then have another vehicle make contact with my vehicle, and NOW I am involved in a crash! Now, after what I just wrote now go re-read what @201 said above!
Look, I might be the worst critic of today's drivers. I will own that. I have witnessed so much crap that drivers of class 8 CMVs have done over the last 30 years. Still, they don't hold a candle to what the jerks driving non-CMVs are doing. -
Agreed ^^^

Remember that dude a few years back who lost brakes coming down the 70 into Denver? He crashed and killed many. Colorado Rockies require good use of jakes and patience.
I do love Colorado myself. I wish my company would send me out west. I miss the beauty.Last edited: Aug 1, 2025

That was a series of unfortunate issues, that led up to that. To review, the driver, 25, was an immigrant on a temp visa, with 6 months (?) exp. burned the brakes out halfway down, bypassed 2 emergency exits and plowed into stopped traffic, and killed 4 people. They threw the book at this kid and got 110 years with no chance for parole. After 5 MILLION people protested, the governor reduced the sentence to 10 years, parole in 5, so you tell me where the system failed?Walk Among Us and MACK E-6 Thank this.

There were 2 fatal crashes this morning on I-70 that each closed a portion of I-70. One was a motorcycle up near Eisenhower tunnel, and the other was a big truck ran over a car just West Glenwood Springs. I ended up taking CO13, US49 Co14, Co127 up to Wyoming. Sitting in Laramie now. At least I avoided Denver and that absolute JOKE of a highway that is I-76. It's almost like they built a #### ramp at each end of every bridge from the 70/76 junction to Greely on purpose. I have called it a day early several times just because I got my back out of whack on those launchpads. You know you are gonna feel it later when your drive tires catch air multiple times in 5 miles.
