IMG_1347.jpeg 2008 Freightliner Classic, won’t start. Turn key switch on truck cycles power like it should but when I press the start button I got nothing. If I jump the two posts of the solenoid on the firewall it will start. I have 12.46 volts at the key switch with it turned on.

I have tested the small input wire on the solenoid on the firewall while having the start button pushed down and only had 6.83 Volts??? The voltage seemed to be slowly bleeding down as well.

Replaced the key switch and solenoid on the firewall so far, any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the solenoid has a good ground and then try energizing the positive lead to activate the solenoid if it works look into the power drop from key switch if it does not work replace solenoid

It’s usually a corroded wire at the solenoid. Yours look good. One of the small ones probably needs a new end terminal.

Ok 10 4, I will try putting new ends on the smaller wires and see what I get. Thx for the reply.

Oh would anyone have a wiring diagram of the ignition system on my truck? Tried to find something but can’t seem to find anything.

Sweet Jesus it was just the relay on the bottom of the drivers side firewall. So there are two ignition relays on ‘08 Freightliner Classic, one under the dash in cab and one in the PDM on the driver side firewall

Not sure how the relay went bad from the truck sitting for a week but it did.

    BlackThought Thanks this.
