Dark: if you have to keep firing, keep firing, I did do that. I am on my 4th DM and I so far am very happy. Although the DMS are not the full problem, the planners, I hear, have favorite DMS, I have talked with Carl about this..One thing I do is tell my DM to preset me before the weekend, the weekend dispatch have cost me more miles then I can tell you, but again that may just be me. My wife says she takes out 20 percent...she leaves that in her comdata account, only transfer what she needs for taxes, but this year she is changing it. Last years gross was 146,000, of which my adjusted gross income was $14,000. I got back over $3200, I paid in over $4700, so now she is sending in $500 a quarter to federal and all of the state tax every quarter. You just have to send in something every quarter by the 15th of that quarter in order not to get hit with any penalties or interest. We got our taxes done on Feb 21 and still have not got our refund, but they say it is on its way. Because they take their sweet time, I just want to break even or pay a small amount in and make them wait,Now on miles, when miles start dropping I do go to dm first, then on up. Owner op told me they do not want their L/O not getting miles. They have been a great help to me. BTW I wish my chrome was all polished for the summer. Hoping to get to the truck stop skeeter goes to for his. He is also doing fairly well, but he has had a lot of maintenance issue with his truck. It is hard to know why, he had a really bad accident about 2 months after he started, not his fault, but she did $16000 damage to his truck and he has had maintenance problems ever since. Him and i just bought our tires and you are right about me having some good luck, I had a lucky break on a good deal for them. Do you know skeeter? He is a really nice guy also with Central, he was in our orientation, he is still with Central. When did you say you started with Central? Anyway, I do wish you the best of luck, and I hope and pray your luck swings to the better side. Hang in there, you sound like hanging in there is important to you...truck on and catch you on the flip side. BTW, I am at a Kentucky weigh station, they have parking for truckers, a really nice room for us, a patio area, rest rooms, because of lack of safe parking, Kentucky has also made the weigh stations a rest area for truckers and it is really nice.

That is the way that they made it sound. That it would be an option. My thoughts are that I pay for the internet if they want me to use it for business for them then they can cover half. I would prefer to have the bills scanned in from the truck. Two minutes of your time and no lost paper? Yeah that works.
Now when I do go l/o then yeah my job to cover the cost and I will but as long as I am cd naw they can split it with me. -
Thanks for the thread I am about to become a L/O. The info you shared will help alot. I believe I am gonna have to start out by firing my DM. He has this really big problem with FRI. at 4:00 he is out the door. No preset for the weekend. i get stuck sitting. He left me in the cold two weeks ago. Did not bother to tell CS about the load I was on to reschedule it. I sat on the load all weekend. Then come to find out (when I drove in the gate) that had CS called them on fri. I would have been able to drop on Sat. morning early.
I really do want to L/O but I am worried about the way things seem to be going. Thanks again for the post. -
I am originally from Al. Where abouts you from? I am of Cherokee decent. Oh and I think all tysons loads are that way. but usually I need a ten by then.

All meat loads have a 10 hour window on them, the shipper can take up to 10 hours to load you before they start paying detention...National Beef schedules all of their loads 10 hours prior to the load being ready so you get a break before you leavedewman Thanks this.

btw l/o's, what did you all lease? I have an '09 T2000, 13 speed, had 184k on it when I got it, Im now at almost 206k, got it at the end of february.
# Dewman - What truck do you want to get when you go l/o? keep in mind, only new trucks coming in are Prostars, and those may already be gone. -
omg your dm sounds like my old one, but it cant be because he was either fired or left right after i fired him. He was out the door the minute it was time to go home. He was always telling me he was on it, then my wife, LOL went to the terminal and watched him from afar in the war room. interesting what she saw. I WILL TELL YOU, L/O IS HARD, but I do believe you make more money overall. You want a good truck, I only let Central change my oil, i take my truck for the warranty stuff to the dealer. I do not trust all of central at all. I have learned who I can trust with time. I do trust owner op, i do not trust the planners, nor do i trust all the dms. I do trust the dm I have now, at least so far. I tell her what I need, now if she gives me something I am not looking for she tells me why, and usually backs it up to prove to me. I do her favors when she needs a load done, but she usually backs it up with a good one. My wife says she gets up off her ### and goes to the planners for her drivers. These dms have about 75 drivers a piece, it can't be easy, the dms are the middle man, between you and the planners. The planners are the ones that upset me most of the time. Now there are some planners that will talk to drivers. I have called them directly ahead of time, told them when I would be available, and asked hey what you got that I can do? Skeeter has done the same thing. Infact he had a horrible dm, he never talked to him, he ran himself by calling the planners and getting his own loads. he did this for about eight months, and finally he showed carl. he told carl why are you paying a dm for me, when i am doing his job. not that he minded, he said it was the only way he could get miles and not loose his truck. He now has another dm as well. Sometimes there is personality problems, unfortunately we are not going to get along with everyone, even though the old me would like to believe we all could, It really is not like the old days at all. I got to hit the sack. Catch you on the flip side, and wishing you the best, if I think of anything else I will let you know.

I have found owner/ops to be pretty much useless after I signed the lease...I think of them more as salesmen. Ive asked them several questions that they had no clue how to answer and I'm always sent to the shop or to dispatch to find an answer to a question that I thought for sure was in owner/ops ballpark...nope

Thats what I am getting. 2010 prostar with all the bells they allow lol. Poor Jeff in O/Ops he has had two blk ones for me and they are gone. Told hem I want a Black prostar lol. He is a good guy. I worked here before as 2nd seat for my trainer. I want to get his DM she kicks ####!! but she is over booked so is my second choice. So we will see what happens. If nothing else this DM is getting a learning experience. Jeff climbed all over him to get my miles up. He was a recruiter before sitting in the DM seat.

Hey guys future Central driver here I go to training in june. I was hoping for any advice from folks who went through school with central, and what i need to do to succeed. Also what is best to take with you to school, and with the trainer, and what will i need once i get my truck. From what i gather company trucks are mostly volvos, do they have cd players, and is it very hard to get xm radio? I know i want a few things like a tv, but my first priority is a good gps, i hear Garmin is best, i have a regular car one does anyone use those or is it too easy to get in trouble? thanks for any input
