I'm driving a 99 Volvo with a fuller 10 speed. Once in a while usually loaded when I turn the gear shift pattern will move where I can't get it into only 7 and 8th and 9th and 10 th. I can get it into any lower gears. You can shake the gearshift around and eventually right itself. Sometimes it will do it when pulling up to a stop sign. I thought it was the isolated bushing in the linkage our mechanic says it's fine and nothing wrong with it because when I bring it in it's acting right. It's been going on for a while and was wondering if anyone has had similar problems? Ty

There's an O ring on top of the ball under the isolator. Sounds like it may be worn out.
You have to remove the shift tower, pull the isolator pin and spring from the inside of the tower, and then you can pull the shaft out of the housing.
When it wears out, the spring pushes the shaft up enough it'll slip out of the top plate.BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
I missed the turning part. Check what @FLHT mentioned for sure

The ball Skateboard is talking about also has a slot and a pin to keep it from turning. Could be a problem with that also.
Big Road Skateboard Thanks this.
