It is always amazing the effort these guys go through to use up every bit of the chain so they start making a web and still don't end up with a single piece being tight.
-
What's sad, is that using a chain in more than one spot is perfectly legal, as long as it's isolated to that one tie down point by a binder, and the rest of the chain could be used somewhere else, but also isolated. No habla.

-
They held you an hour before they started inspecting you? That is total BS! Cali?
-
Cant be cali, easiest level 1s i ever got was in cali. 15 mins in and out every single timeTug Toy, broke down plumber, Kyle G. and 7 others Thank this.

That chain you see going under the skid steer is the securement for the other side of that wheeled skid steer. I am sure he heard about criss crossing chains in machinery from someone and then was told he only needs one chain and one binder for each side of the machine and this is what he came up with, I am done trying to correct peopled f ups on securement, this is the third time I've had someone get pissy with me l, but it was the first time I couldn't understand a #### word he was saying, I've only secured about a thousand skid steers on flatbeds so I have no idea what I am doing. This is the kinda crap that pisses me off about this industry, when I first started driving in 96 I was taught some securement, told to read the book front to back, and wAtch and ask questions to everyone especially the old guys, I am not saying I know jack #### about securement, there are many out there that are way more knowledgeable than me out there, but for f's sake people just keep pissing me off, last night I tried to help one of the company guys secure steel on a flat, another thing I know a thing or 2 about, he has two straps on each 3 stack of steel racks (that's about 15,000 lbs of steel I. The stack and 2 on the back one that only was a double stack, I told hime he should have at least three on the three stacks and three on the last one since it is the trailing bundle and lost likely to start the movement, he told me if anything he was already over secured with his method, mind you he had no chains in the front for forward movement, so I just walked away and said you do you.

Not much more you can do mate, but the trouble is that steel will cut someone in half one day, and it might be him, but it might equally be someone else in the wrong place at the wrong time.Tug Toy, broke down plumber, Kyle G. and 9 others Thank this.

This is why, for the most part, I tend to stay out of securement questions. Not worth the attitude.
