It's still legal. I use it in certain situations. And then I just toggle it OFF the next day.

I think those who thinks a computer is telling them to speed. Shouldn't be driving a truck. I bet a officer will laugh at you for saying the computer was telling you to go 80 in a 55

I didn’t say anything about driving too fast. racing against the clock, can mean running into the truckstop to take a sh** when I am under a tight scheduled appointment

Split sleeper is very handy once you have a thorough understanding of exactly what it does and doesn't do. If leaving right after your 10 will have you hitting a big city right at 6am or so when rush hour starts, you can take a 7 (in the sleeper) instead of a ten, fly through the city at 3am, and then find another truck stop just beyond it to take your 3 hours off duty, at which point you will get back 11 hours minus the time you used between the breaks, so it's exactly the same as if you took your 10, only you didn't waste any of your drive time in traffic. I do this quite regularly.

Obviously you can't do this if you had no time left at all when you shut down. You'd need to have enough time left to make it to the spot where you'll be taking the other break for this to work.

I use it everyday to stop the 14 .. Or atleast the days I'm delivering and reloading same day. Which is almost everyday... sure helps out a bunch. I was doing a similar gig before the new rules were put into effect. I was constantly bumping into the 14 clock everyday. And it made split sleepers pretty much useless. I think its about the only Rule change that has actually helped. The one downside is it makes for some very long days sometimes
