    6th = 1+5 =15 mph
    7th = 2+5 =25 mph
    8th = 3+5 =35 mph
    9th = 4+5 =45 mph
    10th = 5+5 = 55 mph

    Example: When you reach 15 mph, time to shift to 6th, 25mph time to go to 7th.

    Descent rule of thumb that works with most straight 10 speeds.

    That is always the regular 10 speed formula, add the digits together will tell you the speed vs gear. As far as RPM/Tach comparison...when down-shifting, begin your down shift at 1250-1350 RPM and it should smoothly drop in the spot. When making a turn, approaching the turn in 7th, stay in gear, at the mid point of the turn (apex) drop two gears (into 5th) and you should smoothly accelerate (soft acceleration) thru the turn, negating most of the centrifugal force, making the turn very comfortable for the passenger and you.:biggrin_255:

    Just come out of gear around 1500-1600 depending on your weight. A little more starting on a hill. Like skunk says you get use to the sound. You shift one, you shift em all. ;)

    I misread your post and I'm glad I looked at it again before I posted and made myself look like a jack ### lol. Misreading it made it sound like skipping gear's from 5th the 7th under load would for sure tear something up, most likely the tranny if not the drive shaft, then again that's if it didn't stall the engine out. I'm gonna crawl back under my rock now.:biggrin_2559: Bed time fer me.

    I didn't say that I don't know how to drive a 10-speed....just that I've never driven one, in the 4 years that I've been trucking. Even the school that I attended, had 18-speeds. Hence, my query. What is so wrong about that ?
