    Yes.

I know it sounds dumb. PineSol costs $7 a bottle retail. Going through a janitorial supply company and buying in bulk gets you down to $5.50 a bottle. The janitorial supply company gets it for $4 a bottle.

Stealing the trailer load costs $2 a bottle (time, effort, and bribes), thieves sell it for $3 to the janitorial company and made $16,000ish for a weeks work. Janitorial company also makes $16,000 for not asking too many questions. If the thieves are ambitious they can sell it a couple cases at a time to various janitorial companies and double their money.

It's not a huge score, but so long as no one dies, no one is going to spend a lot of time trying to find and convict them. Do that once a month? Not a bad work/risk to reward (ignoring the moral hazard). Not Tony Soprano level, but Chris would be all over it.

Well, gr, I tend to think otherwise, and it was a big screw up. There's a lot bigger fish to fry, like any food item, a load of cheese, or something easily gotten rid of. I just don't think there's a big market for bootleg floor cleaner. Could be an inside job, but for the most part, I think they just grabbed the wrong wagon, imagine opening the doors, dude, you were supposed to get mink jackets, what the hell is this,,,duh, sorry boss,,,.:banghead:

Very possibly, and they made lemonade out of the lemons they found. Unlike the thieves that stole a Schneider Intermodal trailer they thought was full of electronics - and found scrap paper. The load they wanted was delayed and there was another trailer with a very similar number.

But you have to ask yourself - where are all the household cleaners on ebay coming from? We've all seen the videos of gangs clearing the shelves of a store. If they can 'profit' (I use the word loosely) from reselling those goods, why can't they make life easier by just boosting an entire trailer of the stuff? It's only about 3000 cases, not that hard to move.

One more item to consider. Food products have manufacturing information printed on the packaging. Date, time, location or facility, all sorts of identifying information. Very easy to trace. While the cleaner may have similar information, have not noticed that level of detail in the process marking. Not so easy to trace.
