Im looking to purchase a tablet specifically for Trucking. Im interested in one that is easy to mount, Not on the dash, so I can use some gps, google views of my destinations as well as communication with the company. like pre and post tiv, messages. This will be used just for work. I pads are way to expensive. Any insight would be helpful.

I like my iPad. Bought it used off eBay several years ago. Paid 245 for it. Works great. Good Luck.

If iPads are out of your budget get a cheap Android tablet. I've got a Samsung that was just a couple hundred bucks that runs my truck GPS, Google Maps, etc. It never leaves the truck mount.
stacks, Concorde, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
what mounting system do you use?

I got a Android Galaxy that I have mounted to the dashboard and I have it dedicated just for my elog..
I will post a picture and give you the brand of the mount when I get back to the truck.
Currently having breakfast in the Petro here. Give me an hour or so.
It’s a slick economical setup. I actually got 2 tablets a few years back through AT&T and they were like $100 eachaustinmike and ctoe69 Thank this. -
Apple has a refurbished site they sell iPad like $60+ off regular price. I would only buy used Apple from apple myself. They have original warranty and Apple will stand behind it. They have one for $280 WiFi only if you need cellular connection those can be expensive. The amount of memory cannot be changed you kinda have guess how much you will need. Apple is kinda expensive on more memory in my opinion but they make a good product.
austinmike and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
Because it's against TTR forum rules about advertising, I can't link to this site or name it. There is a website that joins sellers of used tech with buyers. I just recently purchased a used iPhone 13. They have Tablets as well as Phones. I would say close to 75% of all iOS devices being sold online today are used or refurbished. Decide what you want and what your budget is first. Then start looking.

I'd suggest you look at Samsung tablets that run android , mostly because they are pretty common. But before you decide about the tablet, you need to know what software you need to run. The tablets were usually installed in the truck by the employer.

Buy an Apple iPad, get the Apple Care for 2 years.
right now the standard iPad is $299 and Apple Care puts it at $360, not including tax.

Apple Care has been a good deal, especially with broken screens.
we do not use android for a lot of reasonsaustinmike and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
Sorry it took so long to reply back..Breakfast made my eyes close after driving all night.
First.. I missed the part of you saying that you don’t want to mount to dash..dementia starts becoming a problem when you’re over 60
Personally I’m a big Apple fan..Got an IMac in the office and I’ll never go back to any Microsoft product…yak!
iPads are great but for what you’re wanting to do with it, it’s overkill. Besides the temp changes in the truck..chances of it getting stolen, lost etc just isn’t worth it.
I got 3 solid years out of my first of two tablets bought at the same time..screen started delaminating from the heat I guess. Took the second one out of the box (battery still said 100% after actually 4 years) did a few software updates and good to go.
Samsung tablet 5”x 8” give or take. Mount is an IBolt brand..kind of pricey but they got a bunch of different type mounts..just look them up.
couple pics..maybe you could get permission to mount it to your dashboard? Omnitracs uses the same dash mount part so it is universal and can be left in the truck when you move on..just my $0.02
austinmike and Lonwolv54 Thank this.
