One of the few jobs that (probably) wont get replaced by AI!

The in-facing AI cameras were monitoring my eye movements while I drove for JB.
The way that these smart trucks are augmented today, it'll only be a matter of time before companies start to put autonomous systems in their own fleet. The same technology that assists us with increasing productive behind the wheel today will also serve benefit the AVs of tomorrow. There's nothing we can do to delay automation's inevitably. I just pray that Universal Basic Income is already put into effect before the machines take my job.

I think that there will always be to some degree a demand for some form of human intervention in trucking. The argument for this seems to generally be the unpredictability of other people on the road. How could a new AI model predict when a crazy on the road is gonna randomly due some improper turn?
A human should be there just in case.

Plus all of the other jobs that go along with trucking outside of driving itself that require more manual labor. Fueling the truck, the daily pretrip, securing the load, etc. Potential software errors. Also the infrastructure overhaul needed for trucks to go without a pilot would take too much time and effort. Some routes like 80 and 10 could see them, but head out to anywhere off the main roads and they just can't support it. Cars are one thing, trucks are another.

I also think that instead of a universal income it will be some sort of resource unit system way down the road. 2040s+. Money will become obsolete but the road there is gonna be a bit rocky.
You may wonder, Isn’t money just a less violent way to compete for access to valuable resources (Such as real estate)? How do we determine who gets to live in the best parts of Miami and who gets to live in Iowa?
If people are allocated X resource units to them each month, they can use that however they see fit. So, if you prefer to live in Miami you have to sacrifice a fancy car and have fewer fancy vacations. If you want to live in Iowa, you can then have more units to use on a fancy car or trips to the Bahamas.
