Havent seen any recent posts about Gemini Motor Transport so I figured I'd give some fresh input after being here a year. Its a very similar working experience to Pilot but with much better pay, raises, and benefits.
The Good:
-Hourly pay (varies by region but Im at $36) with overtime (1.5x) after 40 hrs, I've grossed $133k since starting, only averaged 57 hours per week over 50 weeks, only 3 full 70 hour weeks. I took 2 full weeks off this year, home every day.
-guaranteed yearly raises, currently at 1.5%, ill be jumping to $36.54.
- great benefits, we're paid every monday, 2 weeks paid vacation, plus 4 paid personal days per year AND paid sick leave that a acrrues weekly
-401k w/ 5% dollar for dollar match, family Health Insurance/vision/dental is reasonable,
HSA- company gives you $1100/year
- no micromanaging IF you do your job and show up on time, I rarely talk to my supervisor or manager
-very easy job IF you pay attention, plenty of room to move around, etc.
-you usually can work up to your 70 if you want the extra $$$, normally I'm around 57 hours per week
-$200/month safety bonus
-$15k+ bonuses after every 5 years
The Bad:
-Dispatch is hit or miss on giving you a full 12 hour nights consistently but if you ask for extra loads or different sourcing 90% of the time they'll oblige. Most of the time you'll get 10+hour nights.
-Night shift: im the low man on the totem pole but ill get to days eventually.
-If I really had to nitpick, these freightliners dont ride super well compared to KWs I had at pilot but they get the job done and are generally reliable.
Overall Rating: 9/10
I can easily see myself retiring here in the next 20-25 years. Here's to hoping that doesnt change!
