The difference is truck drivers complain about it but will not do anything to change it.

Problem is there are a dozen willing replacements for every driver currently employed that will put up with it or even work for less.
upnorthwpg, Deere hunter, BoostedTeg and 8 others Thank this. -
I have always thought this as well. The only way really is getting paid hourly. Stopped running mileage a while back because of that. Unpaid border wait times and waiting at shippers and recievers is total bs. We get shafted on everything.hope not dumb twucker, Deere hunter, Carpenter Scotty and 1 other person Thank this.

Most of us also don’t have unions with set timed contract renewals to fight for us for things like better pay and work conditions at the end of the contract terms . you would need majority of the truck drivers to join together and shut down the economy before anyone in the industry or government would care . it will never happen especially with the large amount of immigrant truck drivers being in the industry. They like working for peanut’s and i can’t see them joining inhope not dumb twucker and BigHossVolvo Thank this.

This guy really nails it.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
I'm too expendable for trucking companies to care and those child support arrears won't pay itself.

I was quite surprised at what I learned since getting licensed and trying to do homework on the business of professional driving. All these times that you guys are jammed up for no pay. It’s from both sides! When I first encountered the term detention on here I couldn’t believe my eyes. Securement, tarping, on trip repair waits.
If you do something at work, for work, it should be paid time. IMOMACK E-6, The_vett, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Don’t work for companies that don’t compensate you for your time
You are on duty waiting to load, unload, waiting for repairs etc. if you are willing to give away your time without compensation you’re no better than those cutting the rates to work for buttonshope not dumb twucker, upnorthwpg and Flint1 Thank this.
