It warms my heart to see all these younger folks who can't get a job with their fancy degrees because AI stole all the entry level white collar work predicting that autonomous trucks will replace all of us in five years because they can't stand the idea of someone making a good living doing something that doesn't require college.
We're Being Watched, and its not just driver facing cameras.

So much to say about this ... but too afraid to share MY thoughts. Grateful to those who aren't afraid to share THEIR thoughts on the subject. Thank you.

anything that involves physical interaction with tools, machines, equipment, etc to accomplish a task, it’s hard to make a computer do that for you. Not impossible…routine/mundane assembly work in controlled environments can be automated with robots such as in the auto industry, but public roads and highways are anything but controlled environments. (Loosely controlled chaos would closer to the truth). At the end of the day it’s easier and more economical to pay a driver I bet. I always knew that was a pipe dream destined to be a flop, because as an actual truck driver I know it’s a joke that would never work. Now, people that sit at a desk imputing data into a computer might need to be a little worried.Trucker61016, Miss_Jennifer_Jo and hope not dumb twucker Thank this.

All automation relies on mechanical devices and mechanical devices fail.
The more complicated the device; the more difficult for A/I to completely identify, repair and reset every process.
Somewhere, somehow there will always be a need for some human input; even if is is to agree with the machine's diagnosis and to examine that the machine's 3D printer made the correct part, etc.
Picture 'George Jetson' sitting at his desk complaining that he had to push the button again!
the 2050 version of the famous 'call center' concept would soon be applied to machine watching...Miss_Jennifer_Jo Thanks this. -
