I have the cheapest Garmin you can buy and as long as you remember that it is not trucker specific AND that you always check your maps, you should be ok. Never, ever fully trust a GPS unit.
APU's. I love mine!! Yea I've had problems with it but most of the problems were brought on by the proper maintenence not being done to it. If my company had as good a PM program for the APU's as their trks........

Good for you!! Okay quick list 2 bags on the trainers truck max! School if you have money just clothing, shower stuff, sleeping bag. No money Microwave food, Drinks ect. They supply three meals on the last week other than that you have to supply your own. Yeah all the trucks have cds. xm is easy if you buy it. And leave the garmin at home it will get you tickets quick. Does not show truck routes. The better ones are the truck gps. Rand puts one out, couple others the names escape me. I drive without one cause I am poor lol.
While at school study don't play. its alot of stuff quickly and it all has to do with getting your cdl. You will get the company info and how things work when you get with your trainer. Good luck and look forward to seeing you on the roads. Dewman

Ya, of the 6 I've had this year, this is the only one that I've been able to deliver. Of course the 99 kept me just long enough to screw up preset.

Of course the preset 01 overloaded me, so dealing with that now. And n/w dispatch are being a pain about it. But I told them time was an issue when I left previous 99.

n/w: "what do you mean you'll be late? It's only 240mi."
me: "I show 280mi and only have 6hrs left and not loaded yet, plus scale, plus fueling, plus backroads..."
    n/w: "but it's only 240mi."
me: stares at quailcom in total dismay

    Never a dull moment...

I was at my 02 Schmuck's Grocery DC in Bridgeton, MO. Conversation between Receiving and a Prime driver.

Receiving: xxxxxxx with prime, you copy? (pause or 5 sec) XXXXX with prime door 41. you copy? (pause another 5 sec) Prime, you there?
Prime driver: (out of breath) Yeah, I copy, door 41.
    Receiving: What were you doing?
P/D: I was saying some stuff on the CB that I shouldnt be saying.
    :biggrin_2559:

    On another note....
    Dear Mr. Flatbedder,
When I point at my CB Mic, it doesn't mean I want to chat you up! It means I am trying to tell you something about your load. Like maybe the board from your lumber stack is falling off! Since I am driving behind you in my slow truck, I do NOT want that crap falling off and going through my windshield!

    Thanks,
    Central Driver

Took me 10 miles to unfold a trip pak envelope and get my sharpie to write "loose boards" and show it to him. I think he pulled over and checked his load because i didnt see him after he slowed down and I got in front of him.

Weekend preset just came in. Coca Cola from Paw Paw MI going to NC. If i got paid by weight I would be rich.... all my loads seem to average about 42k about once a month i get one for 39k. Walmart produce load 41k, apples 42k, meat 42k, Minute maid 43k. each load i am close to the 80k mark!

For the 3rd portion of a weekend I am in Waco again. Maybe I should move here?

Finally gave up and parked it in Waco, told n/w dispatch to figure out a repower or resked because I wasn't going any farther. An hour later my FM came on and I had a resked for tomorrow AM shortly thereafter.

All is well again... back to my regularly scheduled career.

So was set up with 3 Yessss three presets for the weekend. Wake up this morning down to two. Did not get a replacement. Good thing friend of family had a melt down had to go get her. Taking her to the pick up in the am. Which was set up for pm tonight. Nope cant do just over 600 miles of getting her then all the way across fl. and ga. to get the load just south of atlanta. Well it started as a good day anyway. lol
