Swift or any other company will hire you, but their company's hiring critieria must be adhered to. Keep in mind, commerical trucking is regulated by the federal government. Therefore, a company is not only obligated to ensure your hireablity, but I'm sure they also are making sure they can get a return on their investment, which includes:

    • Student travel costs
    • Transportation & Hotel costs
    • Classroom & driving training
    • DAC, backgroung checks, etc.
Finally, give the recruiter the information he or she request. You yourself can smooth and speed the hiring transition along if you're helpful, informative and tactful. But most of all be truthful and show a sincere interest in the company you're applying to. Good Luck!

Unless you want to team, avoid CRST like the plague.

I hate to see your having such a hard time getting hired, Panhandle. After reading these posts on this thread I feel a little better about my situation when I go to get hired though. Reading some of the requirements here I ought to get pick of the litter. 17 years same job, credit score 750, ex law enforcement and used to have a high security clearance in the Army. I think I'll apply to the top five companies and play them against each other like I do credit card companies. "Company A offered me 45 cents a mile and a new truck starting out, what's your offer?" lol,jk.
Keep plugging man you'll get in. If you can roll around in insulation in a 115 degree attic you can do anything.

well, i just got back from the driving school. it took 4 HOURS to fill out FOUR trucking company applications!!!
swift and covenant wanted 10 years work history (i've had a LOT of jobs in that time)
stevens wanted 5 and werner three years.
some wanted ANY moving violations EVER. some wanted three and five years. same with accidents preventable or not.
they ALL wanted to know your entire criminal history.
i wrote and wrote and wrote!!!!!!
they seem worried about my job history and tickets ETC. i figured a RECRUITER would be saying things like "oh don't worry, we'll get you hired" but he didn't! he said having 10 yrs history helped (i dunno how) but he made NO Guarantee, he just said he would call me when he got replies from the faxes. is that a sign of an honest recruiter/ school?
i told the recruiter i had heard that swift would hire anybody and he said "thats not true, i don't know who told you that":smt081

I hope you get hired and everything works out for you. I just talked with Leslie over at Stevens, I am going back to work for them. Schlumberger the company I work for is cutting the hours...it was made official, I am saddened by it, but happy cuz I won't be working in arctic temperatures anymore unless the truck breaks down in say North Dakota which wouldn't surprise me one bit. Sometimes I feel god is a kid with a magnifying glass and I am an ant, and he is just scorching me with the sunlight, just screwing with me to see if I swing legs up. :sunny:

welcome to "MY WORLD" and filling out applications. its pretty much like this, they need the 10 years "history" to somewhat "prove" you have been doing something for those 10 years, be it shoveling crap at the beach, or flipping hamburgers, or shinning shoes. they want 10 years with no gaps of employment, and if there is/are any gaps, you may need to have a letter written and notorized explaining why, and that person writing the letter cannot be YOU. it has to be a priest, lawyer, shopkeeper, business person and so on and so forth. its only to "guarantee your 10 years of history.

so now as i have said, i have had MANY trucking jobs, way too many to list here, and you think you just spent 4 hours was a lot....?? in most applications it says something like; "use additional paper for continued employers", or words to that effect. i usually bring a Ream of paper for each time i go job hunting....!!!

you will get a job, so lay off the panic attacks now, its getting me upset.

just have all your "ducks in a row" from now till graduation time, or at least 1-2 weeks before you graduate. time is on your side..............

get whatever letters of "recommendation" from former employer's, or "gaps in unemployment" from respectable people whom you know, or W-2 forms from previous years as proof of employment.

ENOUGH WITH THIS PANICING YOU'RE DOING...............

    I'M GETTING A HEADACHE ALREADY...............:smt082

i'm actually glad he made no guarantees to get me a job. it makes him seem more honest IMO.
