Police are searching for a truck driver who parked his tractor-trailer at a Zion Crossroads truck stop, texted his boss in Texas that he was quitting and has not been heard from since.
Bobby Don Dooley, 42, of Sanger, Texas, was headed east on Interstate 64 on April 29 when he pulled off at exit 136, left his truck and vanished. In his text message, sent at some point between 7 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday of last week, Dooley told his boss he would find a ride back home to Texas.
Dooley has not been heard from since that notification and his family has been unable to reach him through either of his two cell phones, Virginia State Police said Friday morning in a news release.
Police said there were no signs of foul play inside or around Dooleys tractor-trailer. He was not seen on any security cameras at the truck stop or other nearby businesses.
Dooley is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 239 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo of a panther on his right shoulder and a diagonal scar on his left bicep.
Anyone with information about Dooleys whereabouts or who sees someone matching his description is asked to call Virginia State Police at 352-7128 or e-mail the Virginia State Police Area 19 Office at Area19@vsp.virginia.gov . -
