What are some must see destinations while driving?

Yeah, I'm sure that is the way it is there much of the time. The only time I have been through there was March of 2020. Weather was nice and that was right after Covid started and traffic was real light. That period honestly was my favorite trucking I have ever experienced. Very light traffic everywhere and weigh stations all closed. Perfect!

I go through there often. Every couple weeks in summer, and about every week in winter.

It's not bad in winter at all, and even in the middle of summer, it beats the hell out of city traffic.

Worst part are the campers running 50-60 slowin down everybody.

OP, go west young man. As a history nerd, there's lots of cool historic places in the east, but not worth dealing with the traffic.

And don't worry about those who say trucking and sightseeing/tourism don't go together. You don't have to do it like everybody else.

Make it what you want, leave the "can't do" to the naysayers.

 

Yeah, it’s like five minutes of traffic even in peak season. It is getting worse though.

 

Loveland pass is wild ride. It’s the bypass for Eisenhower tunnel on I-70 in Colorado Rockies. I thought the Eisenhower tunnel was high, this is even higher.

 

I had dinner there last night and yeah it was pretty good. Some of the girls working there were real knockouts too. The store itself was nothing special. I parked over at the Kwik Trip again. Steak and eggs with the 16oz sirloin...they cook a pretty good steak there and it wasn't even that expensive. $21.95 I think.

 

Check out a Buckeys location if you're down in Texas and can find a place to park the truck within walking distance. (they dont allow trucks). You ain't ever seen a place like this before. Iowa 80 is worth seeing once at least. Truck World in Hubbard, OH is fun. Bunch of truck drivers sitting around the bar drinking beer so you can imagine how ridiculous that can get.

 

I heartily agree with some of the other posts here -- you need to get out of running the "eastern 37"....& (instead) drive with a fleet that will put you out west -- at least part of the time.

Schneider NEVER dispatched me west of I-35. While their training was good (but very tough) -- I missed out on A LOT of America's best scenic "eye candy"...in the process.

Yeah, and a lot of "butt-clenching" moments every time I took it. Gotta keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel there. This is one of those "look but don't stop" places...

3. Every blessed loading dock in the lower 48.....

Oh, man, the "Hoover D@mn Road" was a white-knuckle experience; 2 switchbacks on the descent, I'm slowing down when suddenly one of those "Mountain tanker" set-ups (45' 10-wheel straight tanker pulling a 2-axle 40' trailer with a dually bogie on a hook...) comes BARRELLING up the road and slopping across all lanes. Then, on the dam road, 4-wheelers were parking on the side and walking across the road to sightsee at 11 pm!!!. Nope, don't miss THAT one bit..

...and a very, VERY windy road. I grew up along the front range and that was "the" pass back then (although we used to use Nederland pass more often. It WILL snow there 9 months out of the year...
