22 years ago I had a 4 banger 5 speed. It did a fair job. I’d like to get a 4 cylinder and put a turbo on it.

No doubt! :) Lokar had a show on this morning showing some of the Jeeps in the show at Pigeon Forge this year, some nice rides of all models and years. The black CJ7 with the built 360 was sharp as a razor!! I really liked it but didn’t get to see it in the show due to my wife’s trouble walking. Mostly drove around this year….

Some years ago we bought a YJ just for me and her to cruise in. It was a Sahara something I can’t remember. Had a 4 cylinder automatic and was really underpowered with the 31/10.50’s I had on it for the looks. But she doesn’t like a manual and a 6 was no where to be had. Even being underpowered it served it purpose for us really well.

Lot of guys regear when the run big tires. Especially on a 4 cylinder. I’m probably going to regear this one. It’s got 3.08’s. I want to run a 3.73 especially if I go up to 33’s. It’s got 31’s now.

Lot of them guys run a 4.56 or a 5.13 that’s really the only way a 4 hole can run 35’s and still maintain speed on the highway

cke, High Stepper, CAXPT and 5 others Thank this.

And I get that but you ain’t their mama and ain’t took em to raise. Being a working shop foreman(my understanding of your position forgive me if that assumption is wrong) your time can be way better spent then keeping up with their #### as well as hunting shop equipment or speciality tools that are not where they should be. Helping them grow their knowledge and skillset is part of your responsibility but they gotta want that

    All this talk of Jeeps:

A good friend of mine in high school had lost his dad when he was younger. His older brother was a problem for his mom and was into trouble all the time, but he was a good kid and a good student. His mom rewarded (spoiled) him in our senior year with a CJ5 ( probably about a 1970 model - don't remember) that had a high performance clutch and a balanced and blueprinted 305 built by the engine builder who built Indy car racer Tom Sneva's engines in Spokane.

I #### you not that it was nearly impossible ( evidently as my friend Bob never mastered the art) to leave a stop light without killing it or roaching the tires. With two of us in the back hanging on to the roll bar Bob could pop wheelies with it.

He ended up rolling it in the winter coming out of a parking lot and running up a pretty steep hill across the road. It was worthless off road in the mountains because it had way too much snappy power and no feel with that clutch.

Another friend had a 49 Willys. Top speed on the highway was 45 mph with 7.50 17s (not a typo), but we could crawl around the mountains with it and go about anywhere. I believe it had a flat head 4 if memory serves.

We spent a lot of time crawling around the hills after school and on weekends!

A good smack on the back of the hand with a wire brush, the 50 little holes it makes will be a reminder while they heal.
