Not a daunting task and its not a bother with your questions. Eval out is not hard. Open book. simulator exercise--look thru the screen not at it. its not a t.v. set.

Even in the package of papers the students give the driving instructors there is a paper that describes eval out portion of training and the securement exercises are listed as "completed in the barn during orientation" I only know of one driver who was made to set up, secure, take down and stowe all of the securement exercises on his own after being out with his driving instructor. I didn't know the student but did hear from the orientation instructors that he was a know it all type. I guess he had to prove it to them during his eval out. I don't even know if he completed them all or if he is still with Maverick. There is not an abundance of orientation instructors during orientation. By the end of those 2 weeks, I'm sure they have a pretty good idea of what type of person they are dealing with.

Should the student manage to ease on by during those two weeks, letting others do most of the work and homework, he's assigned to a driving instructor with which he will work and be evaluated by for 3 weeks. If i ever get a student with a know it all attitude, i'll be routed by my request thru little rock asap because if he knows it all, then why should i waste 21 days of my time with him when there may be someone who wants to learn. The know it all can demonstrate all the securement exercises in the barn and not waste my time.

In other words, he can demonstrate how to sit on a bus on his way home.

The eval out was very easy. It is all open book and we did not have to go back to the barn. In my opinion, if you have trouble with the eval, you are not ready to go out in a truck by yourself.
If you pay attention, work hard....you will not have any issues with any of it!

    God Bless!

Not a problem! The only way to make an informed decision is to do the research, which you have been doing! I wish you all the best!

    God Bless!

The week started out monday morning with my alternator going out. I had to go to the ta in London to get it fixed. 3 hrs later I was on my way to Cincinnati to deliver. I then went back to Columbus to Columbus Coatings where I was in and out in about an hour.
I then drove back down to cincinnati on my way to Alabama. I thought I was going to have to do another preload in Rainville but I got sent to US Steel in Fairfield Alabama instead. Got there early and made a call to Leanne and she got my appointment changed and I got right in and loaded. I then headed to Emerson Appliance Motors in Paragould Ar. My delivery date was not scheduled until the next day, but I called and they said I could deliver it today. So I got it unloaded and spent the night in an empty lot right next to a pub across from the plant. I was looking forward to a couple of cold ones but their credit card machine was down...durn the bad luck.
I got to sleep in until 6 am because I did not have a load yet. Got one finally at about 8:15 and headed to Nucor-Yamato steel in Armorel Arkansas. Got there right on time and after a short wait, got in to load. They were having employee and vendor appreciation day and I was loading right next to where they were having the cook out. So I got to have a nice burger, chips and pop before I loaded.
Got loaded and headed out to Oneal steel in Indianapolis Indiana. My appointment was for 6 the next morning...however Hours of service would not let me start that early. So I shut down in a rest area and was able to get started at seven the next morning. Got there and got unloaded and got another load right away for Firestone Building Products 12 miles away. Found out if you pick up in the same city, the system does not generate any unloaded miles.:biggrin_2556:
Got loaded up and was on my way home. Got home around 3 in the afternoon.
My mpg for the quarter is 7.22 so far.
I have to leave out tomorrow afternoon for a 9 am delivery at Interstate Corp in Rockville Maryland. My guess is that I will get a load of shingles at Fredrick Maryland after that.
It was nice to go a bit further west this time. I do not like to go through the mountains of West Va....but that is exactly where I am going tomorrow...
I just hate going 30 mph up the mountains.
I have a friend that has a Mercedes engine in his truck and he says he wishes he could go 30 up the mountains...so I guess it is not that bad after all!
    Take care and God Bless!
And Happy Mothers Day to all of the Mothers on this board!

I won't know for sure until I start driving but what you described sounds like a week I could enjoy. The alternator and 30mph mountains parts were kind of a downer, but, alternators wear out and they built highways through mountains!

7.22, Nice! Delivery in Rockville, Md?, Frederick for roofing stuff is a good guess, but like Forrest Gump said. . ."its like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. "

I am pretty much to the point now where I am not concerned about anything that I am going to haul. I feel confident that I will be able to figure it out....and I know I have several people to fall back on if I need to bounce it off of them!:biggrin_2558:

I wish I could get shingles out of frederick. If I'm anywhere near Baltimore I end up going to Sparrows Point and pick up moulding going to Wyoming, MI.
