Geez...the cheap ####### I work for won't even fix the AC in the truck...says it'll cost too much money and would only encourage me to idle the truck unnecessarily, which would cost him more money in fuel, maintenance, and repairs.....:biggrin_25521:

This will be my 3rd summer without it....he tells me to roll the windows down and I'll have all the air I need...and if I have to wait somewhere, to get my butt out of the truck and park it under a shade tree.

What's worse, he's hired a trainee that works dirt cheap....doesn't want anything more than food & water, with the occasional cookie when he does good. He's a real go-getter, too. Boss man says as soon as the trainee gets the hang of things, I'm out of the truck. Maybe then I can get a real job. He does pretty good...still struggles with the paperwork, though. He keeps trying to eat the pencils.:biggrin_25523:

This is a little off topic, but do you use a dispatch service? Care to say who? I totally understand if you don't want to divulge this.

To clarify...I pull for a friend that has a small fleet and only takes freight that he can make money off of.
I've had a few friends ask if he'll let them pull for him and his answer is always no. The way he looks at it as long as he stays small he can easily control the quality of the freight that he hauls and the service that he provides.

'Preciate it, I thought you ran your own numbers for some reason. I'm going back and forth about getting mine, and I've been looking into these dispatch services, figured it might be worth it if I could pay somebody a little bit here and there instead of taking time out to make 29 phone calls to get one load myself.

I've always been leased to someone...I like it that way. I always try to lease to a small family outfit and have been lucky enough over the years to always associate myself with quality people in that regard.

I have thought about getting my own authority a time or two but it just doesn't seem like something that would work out for me as well as what I've been doing for years...A lot more hassle and not much more money and sometimes less money from what I've seen.
