Okay, leaving for orientation with werner next week and I keep reading about how guy's or gal's get stuck for month's with their trainer because they over hire, is there any truth to this? If you have'nt worked for werner personaly I'm not interested in hear say, Just drivers who either drive for or HAVE driven for werner. I'd also be interested in answers on this topic from Company personel on here from Werner (if they visit on here). I don't mind staying on the truck a little longer if it's unavoidable but i really don't want to make 350 for 12-18 weeks, can't afford to do that. If there are Werner drivers on here that don't feel comfortable providing this info via open forum please PM me and i can read it that way. Thanks for all the assistance from everyone, peace out.:biggrin_25514:

I ran with Werner back in 2007, and I was held onto my trainer's truck for an additional two weeks past my agreed upon training period due to the lack of trucks. From what I hear, things haven't changed since then.

I had a friend go to Werner and he regrets it, he told me yesterday he should have listened to me when I said to run the other way. he has been there for 6 weeks now, trainer said he was good to go and released him 3 weeks ago, he is still with trainer because he has no truck. They told him it may be 2-3 more weeks since they always pay cash for their trucks. I told him many many times to go with Watkins and Shepard or May he did not listen on now he is stuck in a truck with a trainer. Oh they did offer to let him sit at home making nothing because they need to get his trainer with the next person.

Well lets see I dont currently nor have I EVER worked for Werner.....however I DO KNOW a couple of drivers who did their training route and YES they were held over with the trainer for an extra 2 weeks each due to lack of trucks.

I am glad you are posting and asking questions, however might I suggest that you ask for information from people who have real information rather than cut out people who dont have personal experiences with companies, work, rules etc.

There are some of us here that have been around trucking ALL OF OUR LIVES and know quite a bit, know people in different companies etc. JMO

I'm with werner now and I think their a pretty good company and they do have their ups and downs just like any other company. Once my 300 hours were complete they tried to get me off at a terminal right away but me and my trainer were under a JT load and it needed to get there so I didn't mind helping with that load. Once that load was complete I was routed back to the terminal and I got off the truck tested out and was assigned to a truck a couple days later.

Werner is NOT currently back-loggged at this time !!!

Most only need 1-2 days before being issued a truck.
