so, im getting ready to quit another job, for safety and highly illegal practices, soon within the next 2 weeks, this guy claims im a 1099 contractor when im not, to get out of paying his driver's health insurance and taxs, he owns the truck, pays for maintenance and fuel for the truck, as well as insurance for the truck and he requires the drivers to do split sleeper births literally everyday, which is not what there for, which turns my day into 18 or 19 hours at least, also he wants me to use pc to advance a load to the receivers while i dont have any hours left. Highly illegal micro manages me a ridiculous amount. im reporting him to the irs after I quit. what evidence do I need so I can prove and nail this guy. im done dealing with the scammers in this industry.
1099 contractors or w2

If you went along or participated in any way in the so called shenanigans I would just keep my mouth shut and move on to a better operation or situation. Lesson learned.
snowlauncher, navypoppop, mwonch and 8 others Thank this. -
I’d be more concerned with getting my pay owed to me. Take time off, stressing the need for money, emphasis on getting back to work asap. Once paid Quit. Thank me later.

I figure he's going to try and not pay my last paycheck either way, especially since im just not going to show up and not answer his calls, the thing is , he has owned this business for 10 years, and has been doing this crap for the last 10 years, he has 10 drivers and all of them has been with them since he started it, I got hired because 1 of them finally quit. so he's likely going to get into alot of trouble if I tell the irs. I only have been with him for a month. they cant pin anything on me.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I doubt the IRS, DOT, or anyone cares. They get thousands of complaints from disgruntled employees. Unless there’s a big fine involved. IRS raided my old Boss’s house. Confiscated $1.4 mil. Cash. Fined him another $400k and gave him 1 year in jail. The ####### claimed only $40k on his personal income taxes.Big Road Skateboard and JB7 Thank this.

I agree with what you say. In addition: If he is not paid he can also file with the state for unpaid wages and that should be looked into. My state has a Worker Classification Protection Unit and a hotline so OP should check your state for something like that.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
