I know I have been sent out to pick-up worse, and they didn't get that way sitting in the drop lot.

    Someone drove them there.

Well, if trucking dont work out for him, he could always start a big truck junk yard parts business. I'd say he's got a good start on that line of work.

So this clown talks about all the mechanical problems and at end he briefly mentions about possible driving license problems. Like he doesn't know what is going on for years. He just discovered it.

Yesterday I saw an illegal working for Super ego hitting a guard shack house at Walmart DC when checking out. Significant damage.

Then at a Pilot another illegal fuelling for 45 minutes when I'm waiting behind him and not understanding what the problem is.

This is why self certified annual inspections should be outlawed. They should be done by independent shops, if not state assigned officials. I see so many weigh stations with inspections hangars that are more often closed than open. The inspections would be done for a fee, so they would pay for themselves.
In addition to that, the frequency of annual should be changed to 6 months, if not quarterly.

    cke Thanks this.

I wish I could agree with you on this one. But, they shouldn’t punish the majority of those who do it right because of the minority who don’t.

Middle ground - multiple OOS equipment violations during a single inspection can trigger an immediate reinspection of all vehicles by an outside mechanic. Then the annuals for two years until the carrier has no OOS.

DOT doesn't care about your annual inspection when it comes to road worthiness, only for compliance.

Basically, they'll write you up for not having it, but they don't see a fresh one and assume all is good.

The closed weigh stations aren't because the states think annual inspections are good enough.

These independent shops you speak of, the fools doing inspections there in many cases have no idea what they're looking at. I guarantee I can find things wrong with my truck that would never be seen in an inspection.

I had put a liner in a frame once, and had sent the truck to the alignment shop next door, who also does lots of inspections.

The crossmember where the liner was had to be cut in half, and I had to shorten it about an inch, then welded back together.

When I went to pick it up, the alignment guy was looking at it with the shop foreman. I asked if it was ready, and it was, but both were trying to tell me this truck could never pass an annual inspection.

    "Really...How come?"
Cause the frame has been cut and welded was their response.

"Ok, think whatever you want, but you do know that's a crossmember and not the frame, right?"
