I hope this is a good place/correct place to ask this question but can anybody give me a pointer on what in the world I need for this? I do not have any other trucks in the shop with a CB to compare to...
I have this cheap stick I bought off Amazon and have the cable plugged right into my CB but the one that is out of focus (my bad) needs to connect to the antenna (one that is in focus). Was hard to hang out the side of the truck and hold phone to take a picture while holding the cable I ran and the antenna. Its like the union would need two prongs in it on each side..? I have been searching all over for CB adapters/coax/cable adapters and can not find anything?
Thanks!

A cheap Antenna is a very bad start. Anyway, your missing the mount where you connect the antenna to and the coax
SrFarm Thanks this. -
Oh well shoot ok, I just now searched coax to antenna adapter and saw SMA TO N, looked at it, and searched SMA to SMA adapter for coax, and think it is the right one. Guess I will find out. Maybe if I get this cheap 24" antenna to pick up some signals from maybe a mile or two I might consider better one, any recommendations? It needs to be able to withstand some abuse as it is going on a service truck and tree trimming is not common around here. Am putting it on drivers side to mitigate it hitting stuff, but it still will haha. Thank you for idea though!
My bad, I searched and kept getting lost/ending up back here, if my above adapter I think I found does not work maybe I will find the CB threads on here. Thanks! -
For a tough and durable mobile cb antenna, I used this hustler antenna.
FG27S - Hustler Steel Center Load CB Antenna
It was reasonably priced and it takes a beating. Everyday I drove several times over a rough railroad track and on dirt roads to get to the shop. I think it was around 8 years before it broke off due to abuse. Seems like the Frances antennas lasted a year, and I tried a skinny more flexible antenna, and it broke in two days.
I don't recommend anything shorter than 4 foot long for a mobile antenna, the shorter antennas just don't work as good. Also a good antenna system is key to a good radio station whether it's mobile or base. Use good quality coax too. Don't use a bunch of connectors, they work loose and cause problems. Just keep it simple.
Also I recommend anyone who uses a cb radio to buy a good external SWR meter, don't rely on the built in swr feature of the radio, if equipped. Especially the cobra 29s, they are very unreliable.kemosabi49 and SrFarm Thank this. -
Awesome this thread was put to CB Radio threads. Thank you! Guess I looked by it a few times.
I ended up getting the FG27S antenna and "mount" (more so an adapter) Is there a specific cable end I should be using? I was able to hook the other end of my cable to my CB. A lot of Youtube videos don't describe any mount numbers/parts well at all so it just leaves me clueless. Maybe my cable is wrong

IT will look like a barrel connector 1/4x20 threads on it, with a insulator to keep the center conductor from shorting out your radio. The antenna really only has a electrical connection to the center conductor not the shield, the shield is grounded on both ends ideally. The 1/4x20 mounting bolt (so239 on cable side goes thru a insulator, the mounting bracket has a hole big enough for the should of the insulator to not ground out.SrFarm Thanks this.

Just showing him an example of what connects to the antenna & cable. Your probably right on the mount needing a mount. Same mount just with a mirror adapter.
Diesel Dave Thanks this.
